Is Federer injured?

Javier Frana, former ATP pro and current tennis commentator for ESPN Latin America, says there's clearly something wrong with Federer's hip and/or back which is affecting his serve and his ability to bend down which is especially noticeable when he has to run through the court to hit a ball.

Are those old bones of his cracking up?

Re: Is Federer injured?

He was doing this weird bounce thing with his left knee on the serve. He looks in pain even walking.

I'm not watching but if he doesn't skip Cincy at a minimum then no, he isn't injured.

Re: Is Federer injured?

The ESPN2 commentators (Patrick McEnroe, Brad Gilbert, and Chris Fowler) have been commenting the last couple of games about Federer's possible injury. They showed a serve from early in the match and from the 2nd set 3-3 game, and there was a big difference.

Re: Is Federer injured?

It's the back flaring up again. Man, I'm so hurt. I thought Federer would win Montreal and then outform Nadal at Cincy to become #1. So many dreams crushed because of a damn injury. Now Federer has no choice but to skip Cincy to heal the injury as he can't jeopardise his chances at the US Open.
duarte_a and paca like this.

Re: Is Federer injured?

There was definitely something off after second set, 3-3.

Cinci and Number 1 are gone, i think. Let's see if he can recover till US Open.

Federer & Wawrinka -> unstoppable Swiss power

The funniest comment of the thread has come from the bloke saying it's his left shoulder. I have never seen that bloke make any sense.

Re: Is Federer injured?

154 km/t first serve should say enough. Hopefully it will heal fast!

Very sad to see
