RAFA begins ramping up for US Open series with Dimitrov

RAFA is no longer messing around in Ibiza or on his boat.
He is back working hard, practiced with Moya some, but has invited Grigor Dimitrov to Mallorca for serious practice for awhile.

Obviously, Clay Warrior is targeting the Swiss Assassin by practicing against the similarly styled Dimitrov.

Will it help?

One suspects that Federer might have to practice against two left handed players at once to simulate RAFA... ;)

I think Wawrinka would be a more proper practice, seeing how he can push Nadal around the court with his backhand (atleast when on form).

Dimitrov is too defensive and lets Nadal push him around the court.

Dimitrov on his peak is not even half good as Fed well past his peak, The team should have invited Stan or some big servers like Cilic, Querry, Kachanov etc.

Rafa is not going to play finals in his 1st round, he will face lot of competition in early rounds and taking that lightly will spell doomsday.

Nope. It's very likely that Dull will get another laughable draw, which he has been granted so many times like USO 2010, 2011 and 2013, and simply get trashed in the final no matter who he plays there.

I doubt he's doing it because of Federer.

I also doubt the presumption that RAFA can "invite" whoever he wants to practice with him. Dimitrov is a top player. You could easily say Dimitrov is practicing with RAFA.

Sooner or later MTF is going to have to realize that the world doesn't spin around Federer.

There is no denying that the dark force of tennis is strong this year. Without Federer in Jedi mode, Nadal would have already won two slams and 3-4 masters.

Now Dimitrov gave in to the dark side. No surprise.

But I am not worried. Federer will not be slain at the US Open. Preventing Nadal to awake a new, dark age of tennis will add even more meaning to Federer's godly comeback for eternity.

This is nothing short of brilliant. On topic, if Nadal thinks playing Dimitrov will be good prep for an eventual USO final against Federer then he's sadly mistaken. Dimitrov isn't even half the player Roger is, talent-wise and mentally. Think this "Baby-Fed" nickname is a bit of an over-hype, since he won't back it up by winning a Slam.

Rafa is scared of Roger. A report I read said that they were practicing right next to each other in Wimbledon this year and Nadal had to stop his practice because he was shaking every time Roger hits a BH. It's sad days for Rafa at the moment. Only reason he was able to play freely during the clay season was because Roger wasn't in the draw, now that the swiss is back playing, nadal and uncle toni are panicking.

Hands down Rafa will give his best to shine in the US swing. He did great on clay, as always, but I'm pretty sure he's hungry for fast court titles. He seemed so pissed after the Muller match, one more year crashing out before QF at the cathedral.

That's not the first time they practice together. I think they practiced during clay season as well. Maybe there's a new anti-Fed bond forming in front of our very eyes? Fed's Kryptonite and Dontwannabe Baby-Fed? I am sure pepita knows all about it.
Of course, Dimitrov's tactical cluelessness does not allow to properly simulate the scenarios MTF members are suggesting here, but it is what it is. The choices are few.

BTW, Federer practiced with Berdych on grass. Cruel and cynical fate.

He should train with decent players for the US Open if hes serious about playing for the titles not pushers like Dimitrav, who isn't even that good to begin with.

Now watch Dimitrov take the US open by both defeating Nadal en Federer:grin2:

perhaps it was a suggestion of Uncle TOni or Moya and not Rafa himself?

Just imagine in which state of mind he will be if he ends his career with 1 less slam than ROger?
i would bet on a 10 year burnout, asking to Novak phone number of Pepe Imaz
and finishing his career with exactly one less slam than Roger is a real possibility:worship:

Nadal needn't worry about facing Federer, he won't get that far.

#26 ·
he would better train with lefties, struggling against Muller in wimby and vs Fiasco in AO16 1St round loss

in B4 his USO draw will be like Verdasco, Fognini, then Pouille, Then Zverev, Then Dimitrov, then Querrey, then Roger. It's good to dream sometimes. Unfortunately he will probably get useless guys like Dutra Silva, Donald Young, Steve Johson and co...

And as usual, Dimitrov is just clueless. Practicing with Nadal to prepare for North American swing?
What is he hoping to achieve? :superlol:

Underrated post.

Unless someone wants to prepare for a match against Nadal, any practice with Nadal is a pointless activity. How many lefties with "moonball to the backhand" tactics one would expect to meet in a regular tournament?
