Re: In which decade did you start watching tennis?

I was fortunate enough to start watching tennis around 1995 when I was around 6 years old. First tournament I watched was '95 Wimbledon. Can't remember the first actual match I watched, but I remember the final as clear as day- Sampras vs Becker. I remember well being close to tears when Pete went down 7-6 in the first set (early day glory hunting), but his serve improved and he strolled on to the win.

Good times.. anyway, the '90s.

So someone recently informed me that my sig was empty. Said I needed a life affirming motivational quote by a positive role model like Einstein or Oscar Wilde...

Great tip to stay fit and mobile: If you run up and down the stairs two steps at a time at least once daily, there will never come a time when you can't do it. Until of course one day you mistime a step, collapse and break all your bones... That would suck. But you had a good run.

Re: In which decade did you start watching tennis?

Boris Becker's Wimbledon defence in 1986 marked the start of me following tennis closely.

90's. I actually started watching women's tennis first because I had a crush on Steffi Graf, then eventually I got interested in the sport itself.

Re: In which decade did you start watching tennis?

I`m not sure if I`d answered this question before but I started watching tennis with my grandfather on the mid 70ties and he took me to my first tennis classes at 6 years old
I remember watching matches between Vilas, Mc Enroe and Borg and everything in Argentina was all about Vilas on those days. But I liked much more Borg () and I tended to play a two handed backhand. It was really weird down under here seeing somebody hitting a two handed backhand on those days but it`s still on these days my best stroke

I started watching tennis in the mid-late 90s, but Wimbledon 2003 (Hewitt's first round loss, Fed's amazing run) is what turned me into a tennis tard.

Re: In which decade did you start watching tennis?

I was born in 88, so I started watching matches in the mid/late nineties.

I want to say my first complete grand slam match I watched, was Agassi/Sampras U.S. Open 4 setter where Sampras took it. I wasn't a fan of either, but watched it solely because my parents were watching it that weekend.

I remember making fun of the runner's trophy because it looked like a dish someone can eat out of LMAO.

A few years later I started getting into watching matches consistently, and started watching Federer's matches along with random players. I think around 2001 I became a Federer fan, and have been a fan ever since, although I like following other top tier players.

Started watching properly in 2008 when i discovered Novak Djokovic.
That's quite some distance in discovering tennis and then starting to watch it more often.

Re: In which decade did you start watching tennis?

I started following tennis rather late in life, around the mid 80s, but then lost interest in the mid-90s, boring serve freaks and clay-only specialists, not many atractive personalities. I returned after discovering there was a young hopeful in my own little island and got hooked up ever since (well, Moya is also from Mallorca -outstanding performance for such a small place, 2 nr1 in just a decade, bigger islands like Britain and Australia should take notice, jeje-, but somehow I never followed him much).

Yeah true. I used to be more passionated about football back then than tennis when i was a teenager. In the 90s I was the typical casual fan, i didn't support any player in particular, but I watched grand slams and followed the rankings. I guess Sampras killed any interest I had in tennis for a while. Afterwards with internet it was easier to be informed and up to date with the tour and i took my interest to another level. With Nadal, Federer and Djokovic I became a true fan.
