Re: In which decade did you start watching tennis?

Late 90s. My mum was a fan- at that time, I remember watching AO and late night Rafter epic matches with Agassi, Sampras and Ivanisevic at Wimbledon.

I've only been a serious fan for the last few years though.

I remember Boris "Boom Boom" Becker winning Wimbledon when I was young. I think I also got interested in playing tennis around that time (although I rarely play now).

Re: In which decade did you start watching tennis?

I can't really point exactly, I do remember admiring Sampras' game back in 1997 and after watching the US Open final in 1997 Hingis sealed the deal. I was amazed at how swiftly she played the game, her pick up volleys and half volley skills were much superior to her raw athletic opponents game.

However I did not become a serious fan until after the 1999 us Open. I have watched all the slams if not 90% of them since the 2000 Aussie open.

Late nineties for sure, Hingis and Sampras lulled me in.

The first tennis event I remember watching on tv was the 97 AO. Although the only part I can remember was the presentation ceremony when Sampras beat Moya in the final.

Re: In which decade did you start watching tennis?

Watched my folks watch Connors, Borg, McEnroe in early eighties. Picked up myself in the early nineties. Went to watch my first Grand Slam live, The Aussie Open last year, and look forward to travelling to many more in years to come. I'm hooked.

Early 90s. My first memories are those of Jim Courier jumping to the Australian river.

My first match was USO 2004, but I've been hooked since Wimbledon 2005.
