Re: In which decade did you start watching tennis?

1994 - Sampras excelling and dominating the men's game, the superb and enthralling Muster-Stich Davis Cup tie, Alberto Berasategui's unthordox Hawaiian grip forehand creating a stir at Roland Garros, and Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario toppling Graf in the US Open final and enjoying the best year of her career, were just a few of the highlights.
There was far more variety in the game in terms of playing styles and the nature of the different surfaces, and we witnessed claycourt and grasscourt tennis as they both should be played. Ah the good old days

Only started watching in recent years but have `researched` 80's and 90's tennis to a reasonable degree.

There were quite several people here in the thread who wrote that they are following tennis for a much longer time then the decades I put into the selection. I really regret it that I didn't added the 50ies and 60ies to the poll, but it's great to hear from you all, who are interested in this sport for all this time

1995, the return of monica

Rafa! Rafa! Rafa!

Epic movies, like brokeback mountain, are seldom found in the industry or worthy for the mainstream viewer. As often as I have watched the clips of this movie, I always find something more to it. For one, the gay stuff doesn't enter the picture for me, only the dimension of the highest love I have ever witnessed in life or on film.

Re: In which decade did you start watching tennis?

Since 1997. I became enamored with the game after watching a young Hingis doing magic with her yonex tennis racket at the US OPEN. Sampras too has his share influence, his athletic ability and shear dominance of the sport just fascinated me, his service motion won me over.

I really didn't start watching it passionately until US Open 2000 edition, one of the most exciting US opens as a whole in the past decade. I do remember watching Davenport Humiliate Hingis at the Aussie open ladies final that same year. Since then I've watched as many of the slams there after as I have been alloted. I was never a fan of ESPN, I guess I never will, they just don't respect tennis and it's one of my favorite sports if not my favorite along with volleyball.

So nineties it is.

So long Marat Safin, C'mon Lleyton Hewitt,Viel gluck Tommy Haas, Bring it on Marcos Baghdatis, Gut Spielen Nicolas Kiefer, Dale Fernando Gonzalez, Dale David Nalbandian, Davai Nikolay Davydenko and Allez Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

Roger continue marvelling us the tennis mortals

80s.

Pretty much since I've been born, my parents watched it whenever it was on.

2007

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
