Well wisher thread for injuries and tough times

There's been quite a number of injuries and retirements popping about this tournament.
I thought it would be nice for MTF to be positive for a change. Please leave your messages of encouragement and support for recovery of tennis players having tough times physically, or perhaps mentally eg. loved one passed. Only on topic comments please, if I hear any talk about 'fake' injuries, be prepared to face the banhammer.

---

Anyhow to start with Almagro. Knee - given the situation in Rome, I really think he'll be out for quite a bit. Looked visibly in lots of pain and tearful. Injuries have been a problem in his career, especially since 2014. Just sad to see it happen especially during a stretch on his favourite playing surface.

Goffin - that was a particularly nasty looking ankle sprain. Some comments have suggested there were no torn ligaments but local inflammation. Hopefully he can get back on his feet for grass in a few weeks. Definitely a shame given his consistency this clay season to end on such a horrible note and in such rare circumstances.

GGL - struggling with thigh from the start, and general form has been lacking for a while. Wish him a swift recovery.

And Johnson, Del Potro and Kyrgios whose father and grandfathers passed recently. Wish them the strength to rise through their grief.

Big hugs to all these players and also to their fans who would also be saddened by these circumstances.

Re: Well wisher thread for injuries and tough times

I love the idea behind this thread.

I guess, to not being repetitive, I'd wish for all of them to recover in a positive manner. Some people just have a harder time accepting that sh*t happens and sometimes you can't avoid it. Losing a loved one or getting injured can lead to a depression or confidence drops, so it's really helpful to eventually start seeing these situations as things that simply come with life and learn from them to grow up and become a better person.

I imagine that's what Delpo was getting at when he told Nico to think about his family.

Anyways, good vibes to all of them.

Re: Well wisher thread for injuries and tough times

I really feel bad for Goffin and Almagro. Almagro having to withdraw from consecutive tournaments and even a slam, and Goffin being among the top 3 or 4 players in this clay season and having to end his campaign so unexpectedly. Hope for the best for them.

Nishioka just as he was going to get direct entries everywhere was a little heartbreaking.

Re: Well wisher thread for injuries and tough times

Blessed initiative!

The amount of hatred spewed on these and similar boards is truly gutting. Especially since it's directed at men and women with zero personal connection to the haters. All they have ever done to us is to provide us with free entertainment. Why is it so difficult to be supportive and positive instead of obnoxious all the time is really beyond me.

The players will not read the thread, but it's a good idea to remind everyone that they are not just pixels, they are real people, who can be hurting just like any poster here.

I wish all injured players speedy and full recovery. It's always awful to see athletes get injured, knowing how much competition on these stages means to them, how many sacrifices they have to make and how many hardships they have to overcome. All of this hard work being undone in one unfortunate second is heart breaking. I feel for you and your fans. You'll be missed. Hopefully, not for long.

As for Kyrgios, Johnson and Del Potro (who might also be struggling with injury as we speak ) - my sincere condolences. Your loved ones are proud of you. No matter what is said or written about you, you've accomplished more than any mindless basher could've dreamed of. And you will accomplish even more in the future. May you find some comfort in your upcoming success.

P.S. Djokovic and Murray, I know you're both in a weird place right now. I don't even like your tennis. But the vacuum that was created by your "AWOL'ing" is too much for me to digest. Please come back!

Yeah, injures is a bad part of sports. It took a lot of wins away from many players.

Re: Well wisher thread for injuries and tough times

Add Gasquet to the list. Retired from match with Monfils, back injury I take it. Chronic issue, a real shame given RG is a place he plays pretty well in general. Good luck and recover fast for grass!

Re: Well wisher thread for injuries and tough times

Thought the commies said it was something other than a back issue? Something to do with the leg, I thought?

This has been a terrible FO for retirements, so best wishes to all the players for a speedy recovery.

Yeah, just heard in Radio RG that Goffin actually had a muscle tear, and Almagro had to take knee surgery. Best wishes to their recovery.
