Bad luck for Davydenko. Match was close, he just made too many errors and didn't return well. Anyway, great match by both players

Have all a look at the stats! kolya was the better player in every single part of the game exept... break points! What a shame for him!

There were threads announcing the result before the match had actually been played. But to cite a well known poster here on MTF, "Never in doubt."

Well done to both guys. Rafa for grinding out another victory, Kolya for going toe to toe with Nadal without any huge weapons, that was bit of a surprise for me.

And congrats to the Shanghai crowd now that the blockbuster rivalry match will take place.

I don't like hypocrites, but even worse are the ones who think it's OK to be an asshole as long as you are not hypocritical.

Bad luck?? I don't think luck had much to do with it. Nadal was there for the taking today. Unfortunately, Davy is just one of many players right now who don't know how to win big matches. I'm SO dissapointed with how he played the final set.

A fair and objective voice amidst the chaos of MTF.

davydenko choked away that last set, made 4 errors in the last game he was broken and only the last one on breakpoint could possibly be considered a forced error

Davydenko outplayed him for the better part of the match and ended up winning more points - and losing.

To say the fact that the player who hit 13 less winners and spent the whole match chasing his opponent's balls and waiting for him to make an error turned out the winner isn't flattering to the game of tennis would be an understatement.

Alas, tomorrow Federer will tear him a new one.

I'd rather wait those extra 5 seconds seeing those boobies bounce than watching some fatass kid burn away his bigmac meal.

For me a very boring match. Davydenko won 6 points more...

What a letdown. Can't believe Cola kept piling up the errors when Nadal started to look very vulnerable.

His bro and his wife should give him a good scolding on the plane home. Gave it away against Blake, the same happened today.
