Re: ATP extend Shanghai deal...

This is crazy, why should Shanghai host TMC for 5 years straight?

Before this, Houston had it for 2 years, Lisbon and Sydney only 1 each.

I thought the current deal already lasted until 2008.

The ATP spokesman quoted said the deal was only for 3 years. 2005-2007. Shanghai have to let ATP know by beginning of next year if they want to pick up the 2009 option.

That's what they said I believe, but hasn't worked out like that. Unless of course Shanghai choose not to take up their option. Given the success of the tournament so far this year - after last year's withdrawals chaos - I would think they will take that option up.

Correct. The one-year extention to the original deal for 2005-2007 was announced on March 14, 2006:

*cries*
I wanted it to come to London

I have to give those Chinese fans their props, though; they're very supportive toward every player. Dedicated fans.

By the way: who is that in ur avatar? And may I have a copy??

Me too, but at least it's not at a time when I have to go to class or work.

Re: ATP extend Shanghai deal...

It's quite amazing.

The best countries in the world for tennis players are: USA, Spain, France, Australia and of course, Argentina, Brasil and Chile.

They have important events all over the world but not one single Master Series or Grandslam in the latin countries.

It makes the ATP look bad IMO. The Masters Cup should head to the southern americas....
