There was a lot of talk about Fed's 30:40 CC inverted FH against Nadal in the 5th set of the AO17 final.

The one at 10:16, also a 30:40 CC inverted FH, was probably the most important shot in Fed's career.

Why did you have to post this and stir the memories? Now I am in even deeper ruins.
Everyone who thinks clay tennis is necessarily a 4hrs slowmo mind-numbing pushfest is so clueless...

The most important one is obviously the one against Haas at RG'09. The best one is imo his comeback against Benneteau at Wimbledon '12. He was in a tight spot there, especially in the 4th set TB when he was two points away from losing. It's quite similar to his QF against Cilic last year, but this one is more special since he went on to win the title by beating Djokovic and Murray. I think his back problems early on in that tournament were the reason he struggled in his opening rounds, but once they were gone he played magnificent.

Special mention to the comeback over Cilic indeed.

The old man was in ruins by last year's Wimbledon and coming back against such an in form opponent was out of this world. Cilic was a complete wall in that match, either serving, hitting the ball like a madman or closing points at the net. Fed only had his serve and expertise. It turned out to be enough.

beating PEAK Nadal in Miami 2005 takes the cake. 2 sets and 4-1 in the third against Nadal who had destroyed him 6-3 6-3 the previous year.

RG 2009 was obviously historically important but it was nowhere as intense as Federer's other 0-2 comeback matches. I remember Federer being barely troubled on serve for most of the match.

That off forehand basically confirmed that Federer has always been the biggest luckbot on tour.

Before answering I have to note there are 2 reasons why players manage to make a comeback: getting lucky and showing your mental strength. When it comes to Federer, I think it's way more about getting lucky, so I'm really struggling to find an impressive comeback from Roger. Ok, let's take USO'14 against Monfils. When Djokovic lost to Nishikori, it seemed Federer's comeback was going to be crucial, but.
