Red face Federer went on and on and on about Andy's serve...

it's like he's saying that that is all Andy can do.

that's insulting.

Andy did not get 3 match points from serving alone.

although it helped.

a lot.

Federer speaks the truth.

If you were to take Roddick and give him Nalbandian's serve, and you'd have a pretty routine match for Federer today.

First of all, Nalbandian's serve is much better than Sanguinetti's forehand, so it's not really a good comparison.

Secondly, I'm not so sure you're right.

When exactly did he make these comments? I mean it's possible he's been reading MTF too much, but I doubt he'd be that stupid.

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Don't diss the Silver Fox's forehand, it's an old-fashioned slapping technique but the flat hit does penetrate the court even if there isn't much security in the shot. Let's put it this way, it can't be that bad if it helped him to victories over both Federer and Roddick in the space of a month when he won those titles in 2002, can it?

Some of the other things Roger said: Really Insulting Stuff.......

http://sports.yahoo.com/ten/news;_yl...v=ap&type=lgns

His serve-and-volley game was working -- he won 35 of the 59 points he played at the net -- and limited his opponent's options. But Federer found the answers.

"I think he played the perfect match for two sets," Federer said. "Maybe one serve lacked in the end, so it was unfortunate for him."

Roddick had served and played better against him Tuesday than in any recent match, Federer added
"It's hard to control against Andy when he's serving so big like in the first two sets," he said. "I know I got a bit lucky in the end."

Federer has won three Grand Slam titles this season and 11 titles in all. He has lost only nine matches in the last two seasons. Quite rightly, he considers himself at the peak of his game.

"I'm definitely going to take away a little bit more of a sense of belief from today," Roddick said. "I'm getting closer as opposed to further away, so that's a trend I hope to continue."

Last time I checked, serving was a big part of winning tennis matches. Roger knows that better than anyone else.

Exactly, so it was a compliment, not an insult, as I'm sure you were well aware when you posted. At least, I think that's what you were trying to say...

Re: Federer went on and on and on about Andy's serve...

Anyway fed out aced roddick check the stats. And fed was right on about roddicks serve it was awesome today. I must admit roddick didn't do to badly with the baseline exchanges he had his moments too.
Celia i think you need to read the article more carefully it seems that fed was giving roddick alot of kudo's there. Dosen't sound like insults to me.
It will be interesting when fed and roddick meet again it could be in the final.
And adee-gee still proving to us how really stupid you are.
