Murray (1) vs Kuznetsov because of Andy's woeful form. I still think he will get through without too many complications.
Del Potro (29) vs Pella because of DelPo's fitness issues.
Zverev (9) vs Verdasco because Verdasco is unpredictable and I'm not sure how Zverev will cope with being a not even so dark horse for the title.
Querrey (27) vs Chung because Chung is dangerous, Querrey is in good form though.
Fognini (28) vs Tiafoe just because it's Fognini.
Kyrgios (18) vs Kohlschreiber because Kohli is a tough 1st round opponent and NK hasn't had a convincing clay court season - but neither has Kohli.
Simon (31) vs Basilashvili because the Georgian can redline with his ballbashing, normally Simon should be too clever for him though. Frenchman not in stellar form.
Pouille (16) vs Benneteau coz all French affairs can be weird. Upset very unlikely though.
Fognini against Tiafoe, Tiafoe has been doing well in the clay challenger series (won two titles back to back), he may feel like it's time, especially against a random Fognini.
Zverev vs Verdasco, No explanation here
Simon vs Basilashvili, just based on what Simon has been doing so far, struggled to beat a crippled Monfils. Basilashvili seems to be playing well
I do think a top 8 player will get upset early, just don't now who it will be but it almost always happens.
andy murray - in bad form. kuznetsov is a good player but he's a headcase so not sure i trust him to pull it off
juan martin del potro - pella in good form and del potro has been far from convincing on clay
alexander zverev - he beat nando recently but verdasco on his day can beat anybody on tour.
sam querrey - unreliable in slams. has a lot of losses to guys below him and chung is a quality opponent
nick kyrgios - fitness an issue. kohli is better on the clay anyway
gilles muller - not very good on the clay. GGL hasnt been very good but he's better on clay
grigor dimitrov - robert could get into one of those days. he's got some good wins before and dimitrov isnt at his best on clay
ivo karlovic - all depends how stefanos handles the serve but he'll have a chance
mischa zverev - i know he's in the final in geneva but usually he's a walking bye on clay. this'll be a good opportunity for napolitano to debut in slams with a win
an extremely dark pick:
marin cilic - i know gulbis hasnt played much due to injuries and marin has looked good on clay but honestly ..with marin you never know. i'll be really shocked if it happens but if it does it wont come as a total surprise. as it is though ernie is likely to be lucky to finish the match
he has the talent but the mental aspect is a huge part of it and i severely doubt that , unless murray is donating errors kuznetsov will win it
