Seems pretty wide open IMO. Murrinka badly out of form, but wouldn't surprise me if one of them makes the final here, they have 6 slams between them and tend to rise for the big occasion. Zverev also has a good chance of making his first slam final, even Kyrgios, Kei or even Berdych you wouldn't rule out.
How lucky is Nishishat? This guy's luck is always amazing, his tards cry and cry how he gets hard draws but he has been getting joke draws all year long.
I came here to say this. His quarter is RIDICULOUS. Still, he won't even make it to the SFs. That's how overrated he is on MTF.
My pick for the top half Finalist would be Wawrinka. He's just a different beast in Slams. The 2nd and 3rd round will be shaky AF, but he'll make it there, I believe.
Don't think Murray or Delpo based on injury concerns. I know Stan always peaks at the right time but I just feel he won't this time. I'd generally like Kyrgios' chances but he's just not in the right mindset to do anything this slam. I feel like Zverev is a possibility but I have a gut feeling he will lose early.
So that leaves Cuevas, Tsonga and Cilic.
I'm going to go Tsonga in front of the French crowd. Cuevas is a dark horse though.
It's hard to say. This half is wide open indeed. It's possible that Wawrinka will make it to the final but Murray can't be completely ruled out as well. Dark horse is also possible. My prediction: unfortunately, after playing like sh*t whole clay season, Wawrinka will wake up again. His draw will help him reach good form without early upset.
EDIT: I must've overlooked Fognini here. He can surely upset Stan. Now it's even harder for me to pick finalist.
Seriously, anyone could reach the final and I wouldn't be surprised. At leat not that surprised.
Stan had a terrible clay season but the Bo5 format should give him more time to summon Stanimal. Tough to say, out of all of them I see Zverev as the most consistent one.
I hope Zverev, would be good to see a new GS finalist. But tbh, this could be any one of those options except Berdych or Kyrgios, who isnt good on clay. Maybe Stanimal will show up and own everyone like at RG'15.
Between Zverev and Cilic, the only two players who's been somewhat consistent and convincing this season, I'll have to go with CIlic. He has the stamina for Bo5, Zverev, IMO, doesn't. Yet.
However, Cilic's ability to randomly crash out should never be underestimated. Just as Wawrinka's ability to randomly peak like no tomorrow.
If I knew for sure NK is 100% fit, I'd give him a small chance as well, simply because of his difficult draw. It won't bore him. But looks like he's not fit. Neither physically nor mentally. So in reality he'll probably be out very early. Perhaps even in R1.
Delpo and Murray are both in bad shape. It will take a miracle for either of them to go deep. Nishikori is also very random right now and he is not Stanimal. So... no. Berdych is declining with frightening speed.
In any case, it will be a sad day for tennis if Cilic makes RG final, but that's very possible.

Zverev played a 5-setter against Rafa at AO 2017, so, he does have the stamina. It also shows that the young lad is physically and mentally preparing himself for big matches, which is reflective in how he won the final at Rome masters against Djokovic. A completely clean performance in Rome final without letting Djokovic into the match. It is a good sign.
Zverev should be the top pick from the top half to reach the final, based on recent results, consistency, attitude, physical and mental preparation for the big matches. Otherwise, if Zverev gets crashed, any one of the inconsistent players could reach the final. All of the players in the top half are headcases and a lottery, to be honest.
