If Murray's physical, let alone mental, state is as woeful as it looks, he really should withdraw/tank and concentrate on healing 100%. The few points he can realistically make here are obviously not worth it.
It's annoying to see him in such ruins after the hard work he's put in to get to the top spot, hope he gets well soon.
Luckily for him Djokovic is losing points left right and center too. They both can be very close to the No. 1 ranking later this year. He needs to recover and come back a bit later. Look what happened in 2013 when he skipped RG, although he wasn't in a slump then.
If he loses then ATP is going mad. Stands are almost empty. TV rating will go down a lot. Rafa and Djokovic have no players in their draws to challenge them. All big guys are in other half and players are not stupid.
3 slams and 2 Olympics gold-medals... a legend... it's a shame that he's having a bad year but I'm sure he'll bounce back... otherwise it's been an incredible career...
what are you guys talking about...shingles was in february...since then he has recovered and played some tournaments (poorly). the other week he just had a slight cold and caugh...not really full blown illness but the british media love to blow shit up and already prepare excuses in case he loses.
anyways, has anyone seen him practice today or yesterday...how was he....i heard couple of days ago he went nutzo on the people who he was practicing with.
He had a cold, yes, but not exactly ideal is it when he's had such trouble recently. And it's not normal to have so many illnesses within a few months.
Regarding his training session, he was pissed off from what I gather - which happens with Murray - so I'm not sure that is necessarily in itself big news. But Catherine Whitaker from Eurosport and the Tennis Podcast said that it was the worst training session of Murray's she has ever seen. And she's been covering tennis for several years so I imagine she's seen quite a lot.
Anyway, we'll see when he kicks off today. I still think that he'll have too much for Kuznetsov.
Of course he is. He is more mental than a shoe without a sole.
