Nadal is by far the most solid player on clay. You simply cannot rely on playing well for a few games to break him and win the set. And his serve improved a lot too.
He will win the French Open.

We should be appreciative of Federer though, because we will never see anything like him again. The fact he can still compete for slams ever after the erosion of his physical skills is really a greater testament to the natural talent he has than the period of time when he was dominating the tour.
Jack Sock moving well and hitting the ball fairly well. Nadal great at moments, but just solid the majority of the time. I think he was sort of forced to play just consistent tennis because Jack has so much power and is generally going to be able to dictate a lot
Sure, Sock was sort of mentally weak in different moments, but part of that has to do with Nadal making him play a lot of balls and Jack being uncertain about whether or not he should go for a lot. He overhit plenty
Not much to say accept Nadal continuing to look pretty good match to match. Next round should be interesting, third tournament in a row that Thiem and Nadal play each other. I honestly had major doubts about him before, and I'm not sure he's really slam winner material or not, but Thiem is at minimum going to be a huge threat for the top ranking in the future. He looks like someone who is potentially going to be mega consistent and probably get up to like the top 3 rankings in the world. If Nadal wasn't around the last few weeks then Thiem likely would have won Barcelona and Madrid, which suggests pretty good things about his future on clay
