Rome R3: ATP U21 Race #1 Zverev def. Fognini 6-3 6-3

Straight forward win for Alex, will be at a whooping 1310 points in the ATP NextGen Race, more than twice the points of second place Coric.

Nicely done by Zverev.

Clowning asinine realness from the Fog today. #ByeFelicia

Such a mature perfomance from Sascha. even when he gave up one of the breaks in the second he stay composed and broke Fognini for the Match.

Number 9 in the ATP Race, incredible

I feel sorry for Zverev, he could have gotten his first win against a #1, had it not been for Fognini and the ruthless roman crowd

Knew that zverev would win in straight sets. Still mad at him for missing easy chance to Madrid open semi final tho.

When Nadal retires, I'm rooting for Mohamed Lahyani.

Could we stop pretending that the next gen tour finals matters? I'm much more bothered about Zverev qualifying for the actual word tour finals.

His 3rd masters QF of the year now. Actually stands a fair chance of reaching the finals. People should have known better with Fognini's temperament that he was going to implode in this one.

The real race is ATP race, not this BS NextGen race promoted by ATP

Fognini is sooooo mentally weak (a clown) that its hard to gauge Zverev's real level atm.

Yep, totally crowd's fault. The awful form of good Sir had nothing to do with it. I mean, a win against #1 looks nice on the resume, but realistically that would've been a lesser achievement than beating Fog today. Andy is in a really bad place right now.

Why do you need to wait for Nadal to retire?

Missed the match mostly but it isn't too surprising to me that Fog can't play 2 serious matches in a row.

The difference is that you get to end the year as whatever your standing is in ATP race at the end of the year unlike this fake "NextGen race. And please tell me why do we need a separate race for players under 21? If you aren't a man enough to compete with the men (older or younger) then why bother with the tour?

But why do we need rankings at all? Do we really need a table to tell us who is the best? After all, everybody calls Murray "the worst number 1 ever" despite his 52 weeks results because of latest results. Nobody needs the rankings, everybody calls the number 1 a "computer number 1" whenever they want to. They're "fake" when a player you dislike is there, and "great" when your favorite leads.

ATP NextGen Race #1 to worthless junior exhibition...

He's No. 9 in the real race, that's a real achievement.
