Madrid R1: Goffin def. Khachanov 6-2 7-6(10-8)

Good win for david here , gets revenge for the loss last time. these 2 are fast developing a rivalry, having played 3 times in little over a month, david looked the better player the whole time, although he was down a break early in the 2nd set and karen did hold set point in the tiebreaker but that was off a goffin double fault

Khachanov had a set point on his own serve, after Goffin double faulted, but then returned the favor.

Do you wonder what I've been doing the last 3 months?

Good for Goff to get his revenge quickly, now possibly up against clay expert F. Mayer, which would be a good test of his current clay form

Too bad for Karen, especially after defeating Goffin 2 weeks ago, but atleast he kept it close!

Khachanov has been horrible in tiebreaks recently, 4-15 and counting since the start of the season. A very chokey player, unfortunately.

That's a good win for David. He had a lot of problems playing with him recently.

All ATP 250 though. At RG he never even managed to get past R2. If I had to pick one surface to describe Mayer's speciality it would be grass definitely.
