EDIT: Is there a MTF group?

Why is this in GM??
To get more recognition, the more people play the better.

Re: Roland Garros Contest - Official Fantasy Game - 2017 Edition!

I'm in. I read the entire 2016 thread (even though it gave me a headache after about 10 pages), but I have a question for those who played last year.

"The tennis balls will also allow you to make up for the loss of a player who has been eliminated from the last round (you will get 1 tennis ball back if your player is eliminated) by adding a new player to your team. Thanks to the tennis balls, you will also be able to replace one of your players who has qualified for the next round of the tournament."

So... you can replace players who lost for free, but it costs 1 ball if you want to replace a player who won? If so, is this a change from last year?

I'd like to get this squared away before the game starts, so that no one gets screwed.

This is the exact problem we faced last year. The wording is poor.

"You will be able to remove a player from your team for any round as long as that player’s match has not yet started. (the system re-credit 1 tennis ball to your account)"

I think your right though, this year you get a ball back for removing a player, which would be much better.

I've asked them, I don't want any confusion like last year.

WTA kills this game. I remember I was GOATing on ATP (would of won easily had it just been this imo) but then I lost interest after a couple of days because of pathetic 4 hour shitfests in the women's game.

Don't understand why WTA is involved. Women's football is irrelevant, women's basketball is irrelevant... meh, I'll probably be dumb enough to try again this year :p

Re: Roland Garros Contest - Official Fantasy Game - 2017 Edition!

Now it says this on the My Team page:

"If you win, the male and female players you have selected for a round will be automatically added for the next round (without spending any tennis ball).
However, you can use a replacement at any time (only if the match of your player has not started yet) by using 1 tennis ball. These tennis balls will also allow you to make up for the loss of one of your players eliminated by one player still in running for the next round of the contest. You can change the status of your players by drag n drop."

So, Rafa wins and I get to use him in the next round without spending a ball. Murray loses and I have to use a ball to replace him. Rafa wins and I want to switch him to Novak? It costs a ball.

This seems more logical, if my interpretation is correct.

That's how it works, yes.

Re: Roland Garros Contest - Official Fantasy Game - 2017 Edition!

Draws are out. You can make your picks already.

Would be cool if more people could join.

OP, you can put the group name and pass in the 1st post so can people find it easier.

@Andrej updated the OP and joined the group. Only 10 people seems bad. We had around 27 of something last time. Hopefully more people join.

You will be able to remove from your team a "new" player (a player you've just added to your team) for any round as long as that player’s match has not yet started. (the system re-credit 1 tennis ball to your account)

For me this means I can change round 1 winner for 2nd round for free?

No it mean you can change any player that you've put it for that round, you will need a ball to replace a player that has won through.

Re: RG Contest - Official Fantasy Game - 2017 Edition! (Group details in #1)

That's me picked my team. Actually went for Robredo as my team captain, 260 points against a tanking Evans is a bit of a steal :p plus as captain I'd triple my points if he won.

Not very confident in my WTA picks TBH, Muguruza was basically the only player that came through for me last year, so of course she goes in my team this time.

If you wanna get points, Bolelli is offering 260 points

The point system is flawed - offering up points per match on ranking as opposed to the odds/probability to win the match

Re: RG Contest - Official Fantasy Game - 2017 Edition! (Group details in #1)

Are duels risk free? It says you can gain points but I'm not sure if you can lose points for being wrong. If you don't lose points I suppose you may as well use them every round.

Also it's odd they have a "get extra balls for signing up your friends" thing, not sure that's in the spirit of competition.

You can only win points. You need to be closer than your opponent, you won't get any points if you don't beat your opponennt. I think every duel brings you a max of 100p, but you lose some points from these 100 depending on how far off you were.

Let's say I predicted Rafa's match to be 1h55min long, and my opponent predicted Djokovic's to be 2h00min. And Rafa wins in 1h47min while Djokovic in 1h20min.
I win the duel cause I was closer than my opponent, but I lose 1 or 2 points for every minute I was wrong. So I get 100-1x8 + 92 points.
