Re: Greatest Strokes

1) Federer - fluid motion, and consistent.
2) Safin - powerful and deals well with most bounces
3) Safin - Great serve, hard to return and be aggressive
4) Henman - Generates speed on the low returns (Roddicks biggest problem) and knows when to come in
5) Roger - Great BH and FH slice which almost always get him back in points when he looks like he is out if it
6) Federer - Looks like he isnt moving, no screeching of shoes, moves so well side to side and comes to the net so effortlessly.

My great tennis loves-Roger Federer, Paul Henry Mathieu and Marat Safin

Grigor Dimitrov & David Goffin - The future of tennis

Allez - Jerzy Janowicz, Jose Acasuso , Lleyton, Djokovic, Nalbandian, Clement, Nicolas Almagro, Stanislas Wawrinka

Ai Se Eu Te Pego - Michel Telo

Re: Greatest Strokes

I'm surprised quite a lot of people consider Fed to be a better volleyer than Timothy.

Me too, Fed himself has often said if there was 1 thing he could borrow from a player is Henman's volleys

Surely he'd quite like to steal Karlovic's serve too!

Re: Greatest Strokes

1. Sanguinetti
2. Vinciguerra
3. Volandri
4. Massu
5. Soderling
6. Dick Norman

I think those names speak for themselves.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

I'm not. Henman is an overrated volleyer, he makes a lot of mistakes. I'd take Federer over him anyday.

Anyway, no one on tour these days can claim to be a top shelf volleyer. Just watch a tape of Patrick Rafter playing and you can see no one is near that level. He used to be able to play great volleys from returns that were nailed to his toes. No one does that regularly these days, they're all too scared to serve volley.
