Monte Carlo R3: Schwartzman def Struff 6-3 6-0

Very impressive stuff from Diego. Bagel to boot. 3 straight set matches.

Plays Nadal next I presume?

Dimitrov had to be woeful

Don't expect much vs Nadal, but a great tournament from him none the less.

Struff is nearly a foot taller and ran over 100m more in this match. Diego really moved the big guy around the court well.

He has moved up to 34 in the live rankings, right next to del Potro, career high

Schwartzman reminds me of a younger Ferrer. I think he's going to develop into a very solid player. His movement on clay is spot on and he's ultra consistent. Nadal will kill him because of the matchup, but lookd for Schwartzmann to have an excellent clay season overall.

Expected more from Struff in this one. His strong hitting didn't rattle Diego, just the opposite - gave him a chance to use it against Struff and he did.

Re: Monte Carlo R3: Schwartzman def Struff 6-3 6-0

What can we say?
With this kind of scheduling you can't reach more as a Qualifier, the schedule here in Monte Carlo is really hard and packed.
So much advantage for the Top 8 players.

Schwartzman is very good on clay and proved that a few times already.
Then again, I was very surprised by his performance in Marocco (R1 loss against Coric in two sets).

Let's see what Monte Carlo, Barcelona or even the French Open will bring.

Titel [FITD]: Sydney 2012, Memphis 2013, French Open 2013, s'Hertogenbosch 2014, Metz 2014, Auckland 2015, Hamburg 2016, Halle 2017 & Wimbledon 2017
[Suic. T.]: Shanghai 2012, Montpellier 2013, Winner of WTF London 2013, Barçelona 2014, Winstom Salem 2015 & Shanghai 2016
[TT Singles]: Challenger Rennes 2014
[TT Doubles] 4 Challenger Titel (seit 2012)
Proud fan of Stanislas Wawrinka since 2004
Federer - Laaksonen - Struff - Istomin - Khachanov

How is Struff a "tradegy of a player."

He's got a big serve, decent groundstrokes and moves well for someone so tall.

He does have poor shot selection at times and bashes when he doesn't have to. But he's a solid top 50 player.

On here, it seems if someone isn't in the top 10 they are automatically a "Mug"

He played a ton of tennis the last two weeks and won some good matches.

He's on the way up again.

Encouraging results the last two weeks for Struffi, though it certainly came to a screeching halt today.

Onward

Alex "The Wunderkind" Zverev
Grigor "The Ultimate Beard" Dimitrov
Thanasi "Most Injured Athlete" Kokkinakis

Wow, Struff was on fire going into this match, didn't expect it to be so one sided, Stuff must have run out of gas.

Really, so that's why he got upset and dominated by Coric last week.

that was one of his bad matches but I can attest he handles himself very well on this surface in general and scraps a lot of pts but also can be aggressive. I mentioned he delivered 3 bagels (2 virtual, and one true bagel) in Istanbul, and he's put another one together here.

He has also improved on HC as well. He is now ranked 34 in live ranking (career high) so that really is something worth cheering about considering he used to make his way on CH tour. Hopefully he can defend most of his Istanbul points.

Waving Wilson magic one point at a time

KEI all the way!!!

Get well soon buddy, all the best for 2018

Team THIEM | Welcome back Juan!
