Hypocritical Murray sent Sharapova message of support after trashing her in public

Andy Murray says Maria Sharapova should not be handed wildcards after returning from doping ban | The Independent

He has a public and a private position, just like Hillary. Sad!

Also makes you wonder about his tough words on anti-doping

I'm going with the more plausible ''Tough on doping in public for PR reasons, part of the omerta in private'' line.

Re: Hypocritical Murray sent Sharapova message of support after trashing her in publi

it depends on what he said in the message

did he say something " maria , fucking hell , you shouldn't be banned "

then yeah .. it will be wrong because he said the opposite in public

or did he say " Maria , I hope you will get back stronger after your ban time "

then it's perfectly fine , if he knows her .. then it's his duty to support her but that doesn't mean he has to lick her butt in public and say unfair shit

I don't think there is something wrong with what he did , unless its the complete opposite of what he said in public about the rules and stuff .

calling for fair punishment + supporting the player to pass his punishment

perfectly fine tbh .

supporting the player doesn't mean supporting doping

dull for ex sent her some cute shit , does it mean he supports her in her doping case ? , or on a personal level ?

CALL 911 , FEDERER JUST GOT OUT OF JAIL

Look at that booty, show me the booty
Give me the booty, I want the the booty
Back up the booty, I need the booty
I like the booty, oh what a booty

Shaking that booty, I saw the booty
I want the booty, lord what a booty
Bring on the booty, give up the booty
Loving the booty, round booty

Re: Hypocritical Murray sent Sharapova message of support after trashing her in publi

In my class in high school I had a friend who was everytime honest about every person in public. She wasn't liked by anyone.
Of course in general it's bad to be hypocritical, but without it, you have tough life with others.

Murray can have his own opinion for tennis, but maybe he just like Sharapova as a person. For me it's good to not translate everything in your job into private life.

Support:

Offensive baseliners: Klizan, Bellucci, Thiem, Djokovic, Wawrinka, Del Potro, Gulbis

Players with great touch and others: Federer, Mahut, Goffin, Gombos, Mannarino, Bollelli, Bautista-Agut, M. Zverev

It's not "public" and "private", it's "official" and "unofficial".

Re: Hypocritical Murray sent Sharapova message of support after trashing her in publi

Anyway Murray is honestly a very underrated PR bot, one thing is to be disappointed with Maria Sharapova, but Murray went too far and criticize heavily, criticizing Head for supporting Maria and saying WC shouldn't be given against dopers, which would still be fine actually, because I can understand heavy criticisms over this incident, but to then send a supportive message, he just pretty much exposed himself as a hypocrite. His anti-doping comment was to give himself a good image about how much hates doping and criticizing Maria heavily helped in that.

Sad! I remember Djokovic was criticized for supporting Maria but at least he was honest and not hypocritical

It doesn't mean anything. We don't have the message here.

He might have considered his words too harsh or worried that Sharapova got upset at him or misunderstood that it was personal so he sent her a private message in the interest of maintaining favourable relationship with a colleague.

And I agree with @Lazyguy supporting someone doesn't mean supporting what they do. It cannot be simple when it comes to wrongdoing from someone you are on good terms with, or even Friends or family.

Re: Hypocritical Murray sent Sharapova message of support after trashing her in publi

How is it impossible to understand that he feels she deserves her ban and doesn't think she should get a wildcard but feels sorry for her and think she deserves a chance to resume her career.

Also Murray only ever answered questions he was asked on Sharapova, he never made a statement.

Official asterisk judge of the illegitimate tournament win. *

Re: Hypocritical Murray sent Sharapova message of support after trashing her in publi

Reading from the quoted article, once again it was my understanding that Murray was criticizing the fact that tournaments were offering wild cards to Sharapova, and criticizing the system that doesn't force her to work her way back. Not sure how in God's name - or should I say in the Queen's English - that becomes a criticism of Sharapova per se and therefore makes a supportive message (which has not been spelled out) hypocritical? I didn't get the impression he had publicly criticized her for accepting the wildcards, which in that instance, was the point he was making.
