Murray broke twice just in time to steal that first set. Good thing he settled it in 2.

It was worrying when Murray threw away the first game with 3 DFs, but he raised his level after 3-5 in the first set while Muller predictably choked the big points.

Murray was pretty horrendous out there at pts, Muller failed to make him pay and had a good chance to grab a double break lead in the first set.

I thought Muller was going to force a TB and maybe a 3rd when he recovered from 0-30 at 6-5 but it was not to be, thankfully! Well done Andy

Typical first match for Andy. I thought he was holding back quite a bit TBH. Was pretty average today but done enough. I dont really have any expectations for him to win the tournament considering its his first match back but its still possible. Djokovic and Wawrinka weren't exactly convincing either

Not the greatest match but a win is a win. Good start to your return, Andy

Still not as bad as his first Monte Carlo match last year vs Herbert (or indeed his match with Paire).

That serving in the first game was horrifying -- still Andy's groundstrokes were good but Muller really should have won that 1st Set.

Mugller is an all-serve mug. Can't expect much from him at Monte Carlo.

Muller struggled to get his first serve going and when serving for the first set totally gagged, what a mug. Stopped watching after that.

Onwards Clayray. Admittedly I haven't watched any of his matches yet, but I'll catch him later on..

19-15
Federer & Djokovic
SUPERIOR.
