give a rate to mens tennis at this moment

I would give it a B or so
2011 for me is the best recently, when a naked ambition finally blow up
as two man(god) stand in front of him, especially the young one
that was exciting

Re: give a rate to mens tennis at this moment

It's a B+ in my book, we have 3 ATG players still active and playing well, along with two great players in Murray and Wawrinka competing for the big titles. There's also the remains of the old generation and the post-1995 generation rising. Most unfortunate thing is that the generation supposedly at their peak doesn't deliver, and so we don't have dominant force at an elite level like we saw in 2004-2016.

Enjoy every moment of tennis. Enjoy the rise of the young, the brilliance of the peak, and the passion of the old. Enjoy dominance, enjoy diversity.

Fight. Drama. Shots. Epic matches, fun stats, tennis!

On hard so far A+ in 2017, while on clay F so far.

Re: give a rate to mens tennis at this moment

Obviously the situation at the very top is a mixed bag. Federer dominating and Nadal having a mini-resurgence is a breath of fresh air. Wawrinka's consistency has been heartening as well. On the flipside, Murray is injured and Novak is just a bad pusher now. As for the young guns, Kyrgios is showing greater focus, which is a major upside. Dimitrov had an incredible start to the season before losing his way, and finally Thiem seems to be returning to top form.

EDIT: How could I forget the legend that is Tommy Haas?

Overall I think a B+ is fair. Three months in and this has already been my favourite year since 2012. Nadal sweeping the clay season thanks to zero competition would push it down to a B- though.

B.) It could be much better. But it is alright I guess.
Still waiting for Nishikori to pull a streak of great matches this season.

2012 was the last very good season according to me. But I enjoyed 2014 a lot too.

Not A+ as it was between 2004-2007. I would still give it a solid A though.

Re: give a rate to mens tennis at this moment

Am I rating the quality of the tour, or how much I've enjoyed tennis in 2017?

Quality: C+. Because let's be honest, without Olderer playing well it would be shit. Kyrgios getting a little consistent is good for the future though.

Entertainment factor: A. Australian Open was more interesting than it has been in years. As for the rest of the year, obviously I have bias as a Federer fan.

Re: give a rate to mens tennis at this moment

C+ because even though it's a mug era at least some of the players are trying.

However, the fact that a 35 year old granpa coming back from injury who doesn't even bother to play on an entire fucking surface has won the three most important titles of the season tells you a lot about the sad state of affairs of tennis today.

No quality in the field, no depth, no belief for the young players to make an impression on tour right now. I can't get much worse than this to be honest.

While tennis is by far the sport I love the most, I gave it a B. It should be lower though, like a C.

The tour is flooded with players who posses the mental strength of a coffee table.

Re: give a rate to mens tennis at this moment

Hi Tennis Lovers

Again any poll like this is going to be colored subjectively by ones personal preference in players and style, but i am going to give it a go anyway, but have in mind that i am colored by the fact that i am a Federer fan(its like divine art when he plays) and also by the big 3 in general like Raysun68 so nicely put. 3 ATG and a Murray and Stan, competing in the most open year in a long time. Murrey and djok hopefully coming back full force. Health, age and motivation is big factors, that is part of the game, look at superstar Borg, who could have taking + 20 slams, if he had been motivated and played AO. I can hardly remember a more exiting year than this one. The slams the next couple of years with the old 5 contra the upcoming stars who eventually will overcome the old, are going to be so exiting. I am so grateful, watching tennis pretty much all open era; to be apple to experience 3 ATGs performing probably the most equal in years, 2 other old greats pressing them and the new ones coming. Candyland for tennis lovers. So a clear A+ for excitement and entertainment. And enjoying every moment, we have 3 ATG playing at the same time, competing at a high level, if one does not recognize this then one in my opion has been too spoiled too see clearly or do not have the experience of the time before the 3 ATG, to realize what amazing tennis times we live in. And most of u will regret not being more grateful and enjoying with full force and U WILL MISS IT WHEN IT IS OVER AND TOO LATE.

PS Pardon my english only my 3 language.

Pretty much this. As a Fed fan it's glorious, but judging the tour things aren't that great even though AO did see some nice things (Dimitrov resurgence primarily, although he hasn't maintained that level sadly).

Re: give a rate to mens tennis at this moment

Subjectively it's always A+ for me whenever Roger wins a title.
Rest of the field is pretty much the same for me over the years. I hardly see the type of tennis I enjoy watching from anyone apart from Roger. I also enjoy watching Dimitrov but since winning Sofia he hasn't done much.

Congratulate Rafa on an amazing comeback. I don’t think either of us would believe we would be in the Final of the Australian Open when we saw each other at your academy 4 or 5 months ago . I’m happy for you. I would have been happy to lose too. The comeback was perfect as it was. Tennis is a tough sport, there is no draws. If there’s gonna be one, I would have been happy to accept it tonight and share it with Rafa really.

Re: give a rate to mens tennis at this moment

I'm inclined to say F because I just watched Schwartzman-RBA

I'd say A for drama and C- for quality. Generation useless remains useless and the old guard falling away seems to have brought the oldER guard back, in a testament to just how bad the generation after them were. But the drama has been very good and the Federer comeback is something else.

Re: give a rate to mens tennis at this moment

I voted B because Lets face it Murray, Djokovic, Raonic and Nishikori are not playing at the same level as last year because they've all been injured.

I think this year has potential to be A+ though if they can all rediscover their form from last year and Fedal can keep playing at the same level as they've been doing the last few months. The fact we could end up having 4 players with a shot at YE no1 could be exciting as most of us expected a 2 horse race between Murray and Djokovic at he start of the year.

Hope Kyrgios, Zverev and Edmund also improve.
