Our resident MTF statistician

Thanks for that

52 consecutive sets won by Lendl

It never ceases to amaze me how much people underrated Ivan when he actually holds so many records many of which I think will never be broken.

Lendl's streak was on Hard, Carpet, Hard, Carpet, Clay, and Clay. Amazing.

Pretty fascinating record there for Lendl I agree, but he'll always be overlooked simply because it's the big ones that really matter. Anything else is just a welcome additive.

Streaks of 20 or more: these guys basically make up the entire list:

Federer-8
Connors-8
Lendl-7
JMAC-7
Borg-7
Vilas-7

Others who might have done it but I didn't check: Magnus Norman, Forget, Korda, Sandy Mayer, and Yannick Noah.

Interesting to see Pete with only one such streak. Goes to show you he did just enough to win and didn't seem to try too hard in getting those wins.

Lendl yet again.

Discuss a record and the name Lendl more often than not appears.

I really expected Borg to hold this. But didn't he always skip the AO? Probably had something to do with it.

How would skipping a tournament affect this?

Hah. Cause I read the title completely wrong. Good catch. (skipping the AO would actually be HELPFUL in obtaining this statistic.)

Fascinating to see Coria so far up the list! And Sampras with only one streak near the bottom.

Last of the moon-and-volley specialists.

I believe in luck. How else can you explain the success of those you don't like? ---Jean Cocteau

Not strange at all. Sampras was very "human" on clay/slow courts.

True, but most of these streaks took place within just 2-4 tournaments. With that serve, I would have expected Sampras to have more streaks on grass and fast hardcourt.

Federer this year with the final set of Halle plus 20 sets of Wimbledon before Nadal got a set. That should be in there as 21.

Champions deserve whatever they win playing within the laws of the game
