From what I saw in the last few games Nadal was serving pretty well. Didn't see most of the match so wasn't sure if Nadal was GOATing or Fognini was just plain bad. Either way, Nadal will feast on the remains of whoever is in the final. If it's Fed he wins, Kyrgios it's 50/50.
He's got the kind of face that suggests he enjoys trolling his fans. Look at that grin as he's about to serve: he knows he's about to choke away a winnable match, he accepts it, and he relishes the disappointment he creates. And there's no one better in the role.
Either Fed/Kyrgios can have a chance against this Rafa, unless Fed and Kyrgios kill each other off which I suspect will happen.
Fabio showed up for a while but it wasn't enough. Rafa was solid.

Nadal needs to play way better than today to stand a chance in the finals.
Keeps the three year finals streak. With his form the loss streak may continue too. Good tournament already for him. He will play his 1003rd match and tie for the 10th place in number of matches played in Open era.
The only entertaining thing in this match it seemed was Nadal's effectiveness on serve. Other than that, very erroneous match by Fog really without exactly going for big winners. Nadal prolonged it too much than it should do and Fognini surprisingly made it close in the 2nd Set. Some clutch play by him, but kinda wasted it with a throwaway game on the 11th game. Funny though, with how Nadal virtually didn't give any service points away, while Fognini was almost always on the brink, Fognini almost managed to break Nadal on the 8th game I think with a first Deuce of the Set (although no BP). Nadal knew how to win against this Fognini, to the point that the stats for W/UE are around less than 15 for both (Fognini has more on both). Not convincing if either Fed or Kyrgios ups their level in the final which means he needs to up his level by 2 I guess if he is to get his first title here.
