Who will be the YE Top 5 Players??

I think this is a fair question to ask here as we have seen some surprising results this year and some injuries arising. I have been thinking about this.

I feel like the top 10 is not performing as they should, which I think we all know and could see some people burst into the top 5-7 that we won't expect regularly... Here's what I have to say about the current Top 7.

1) Murray- Started off the year with a loss to Djokovic in Doha. Then follows an early loss in Melbourne, shocking loss to Pospisil in IW, and then an injury.

2) Djokovic- Taken out by Istomin in Melbourne, and is dropping nearly 2000 total points after IW/Miami. Also has an injury that might hold him out.

3) Wawrinka- In my opinion, might be the only player in the Top 5 that is playing like he belongs there. Only one shocking loss this year to Dzumhur in Dubai, but followed it up with an IW final appearance. So it's probably nothing to worry about long-term.

4) Nishikori- His only struggles have been on the clay this year. Will be interesting to see how he fairs out at Barcelona (where he usually plays well), Madrid, Rome, and RG. It could make or break his ranking since we know what we'll get out of him on hard surfaces.

5) Raonic- Hasn't played since Delray Beach, but had good results prior to that. I'm wondering how serious this injury is long-term.

6) Federer- Literally nothing to say here. Winning the two biggest tournaments of the year, is a great start. His loss in Dubai doesn't matter. We'll see which Federer comes out in Miami.

7) Nadal- Playing well. He could've went further in IW if he didn't get placed in Federer's draw. He seemed to have been playing well and his only losses have come to Roger and Querrey (who played his best tennis, I've seen).

Of course their are some guys outside the top 10 who have had nice wins this year...

Dimitrov- Great beginning of the year, Brisbane title, Sofia title, SF in Melbourne, but seemed to have slowed down a bit lately, but his only losses have come to three great hard court players. (Nadal, Sock and Goffin)
Sock - Won Auckland, Delray Beach, SF in Indian Wells
Kyrgios - Defeated Djokovic twice this year already
Berdych - Might not necessarily have nice wins, but which Berdych will show up this year??
Pouille- He's ranked 15 in the world and has virtually no points to defend until August, will be tough to fall much before New York...
A. Zverev- He has lost three out of the last four, but won the title in Montpellier. We all know his potential.
Del Potro- Started out injured, but has the potential to bust into the top 5-10 by the US Open. Can win big matches if he plays well obviously.

So... my question to you is, who will be the YE top five players? Or is it too early to call?

Here's my prediction...

1. Murray
2. Wawrinka
3. Raonic
4. Federer
5. Djokovic

A side note on Pouille (but in general), points to defend have close to nothing to do with YE ranking. (seeding effects the only possible changes)

The top 5 will probably be the big 4 and Stan.

1. Murray- I think he'll get his act together like last year and still finish the year no1.

2. Djokovic- Will still reach a slam final and win a couple of Masters.

3. Federer- He's had a great start to 2017 but I doubt he'll keep this level up throughout the year. He's 36 this year so we don't know how his stamina will hold and it wouldn't surprise me if his body breaks down like it did last year.

4. Wawrinka- He's also had a pretty good start to 2017 and I think he'll finish in the top 5 again pretty easily.

5. Nadal- Again like Federer it wont surprise me if his body breaks down after the clay swing and is out for the rest of the year. If he's fit the whole year though then he could challenge for YE no1 although I doubt he'll have the consistency on HC and will probably suck on grass.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Big 4 and Wawrinka ended the year the as the top 5, with Dimitrov (if his consistency holds up), Nishikori and maybe Raonic rounding out the WTF participants.

All I know is that Andy, Roger, Wawrinka and probably Djokovic are definitely going to end the year in the top 5. Even I don't think the Serb will suck THAT badly for the rest of the year that he'll fall down past #5 and the other three are far too superior to pretty much every other player out there.

So...let's say:

01. Andy
02. Roger
03. Djokovic
04. Wawrinka
05. Nadal

After having a great start its very highly unlikely Fed will be out of Top3 given Djoko and Murray had a false start so far.

My Likely YE Top 5

1]Federer
2]Murray
3]Djokovic
4]Wawrinka
5]Highly unpredictable, I won't be surprised if Thiem makes it.

Nishikori and Raonic will drop rankings I think, they just don't EVER win big titles

probably the top 5 will be a call back to a few years back, the Big 4 + Wawrinka

Djokovic could easily drop out of the top 5 if he continues to lose before the SF at big tournaments. He's defending a lot of points on clay. Meanwhile Fed and Nadal might continue their good form and raise the bar on the top 5, points wise. Having a lower seeding could then make winning even harder for Djokovic moving forward into the fall hardcourt season.

Djokovic
Federer
Murray
Wawrinka
Raonic

1. Federer
2. Wawrinka
3. Nadal
4. Thiem
5. Kyrgios

Thiem and Nadal will clean up on clay. Kyrgios is set to make a nice move. Djokoray sporting elbow issues. Things will be clear within a few months as clay season progresses. Dimitrov a contender, but needs to do well on clay.

Welcome to MTF :D Great first post.

My prediction:
1. Federer
2. Djokovic
3. Murray
4. Wawrinka
5. Nadal
My take on this year is that these 5 players will end up within 3000 points of each other, maybe in the
5500-8500 range. Then we may have Dimitrov, Nishikori, Raonic, Thiem and Tsonga in top 10, followed by Kyrgios, Goffin,Del Potro, Sock, Pouille, Cilic,A.Zverev, RBA, Berdych, and PCB in top 20.

Anything else for me is not interesting...
