Question for Federer Fans...

Did you expect Federer to come back and play this well? Because I didn't. I thought he would be more than adequate, I thought he would be back in the top 10 by the French Open and that he would have a chance of winning titles. I thought the haters who said he might be outside the top 20 at Wimbledon and have to play Djokovic in the third round were talking nonsense.

But he's almost certainly going to be back in the top 4 after Miami. Already notched the first two big titles of the year. This is way beyond what I thought was possible.

A: well , it means a lot to me obviously .. you know .. to see this dedication from my fans , and as a professional attacking tennis player , I know it was a pretty difficult situation after 6 months of absence, but you have to keep being positive whatever happens , ya know .. talking my way .. not HER way , and who knows .. I may be able to be #1 again and smack that ass

Nah, I thought it was over after he announced he would skip the rest of 2016. If I'm being honest, I didn't even think he would come back at all.

Re: Question for Federer Fans...

No one expected this I think. It's almost like a dream.

I had hopes for Wimbledon because Roger always plays great there (2013 didn't happen ).
To win the AO was an awesome surprise and to back it up with IW it's just like hyper, mega, super brilliant and fantastic!!!

GOAT is back and I'm loving very second of it. Just hope Roger can keep going!

18 - Slams
6 - WTFs
25 - Masters
90 - Titles
302 - Weeks at #1
... I don't know ... I feel uneasy to want more from him ... really ... Let's say ... I'll be content if he ends with 95 titles even if they are 5 250s ... Just to prevent Nadal and Djokovic reach him in the overall titles count ... and because 100 is impossible.

fed himself didn't expect this either.

These are his words after he won AO.
"I went to Australia just to test my body. I felt good in training but games are another story. I thought I could reach quarters and beat a good player, at most two. These were my expectations."

Re: Question for Federer Fans...

It seems his time off actually helped him, rather than hindered him. That is the most surprising take-away for me. I thought he was done for as well, though I have to say that if Djokovic and Murray at least were playing the way they were a year ago things might have looked a bit different here.

Re: Question for Federer Fans...

Never thought it was over, because talent is ageless and Roger isn't a physical player, but this comeback is without a doubt one of the best ever in sport. 2017 ATP Comeback Player of the Year guaranteed. Another first for The Man! Most improved player? Why not?! 6th Player of the Year and 15th Fan Favourite are a walk in the park.

Federer - Nadal - Wawrinka - Del Potro - Monfils - Thiem - Tsonga - Zverev - Kyrgios

Re: Question for Federer Fans...

After he took that break last year, I was very happy if he could return and play a few matches again and I really prayed he didn´t have to meet Nadal or Djokovic in the draws, but

this year has beaten my expectations in such a glorious way. He just seems the old 20´s Federer.

I think one of his main motivations was the bad results from Djokovic and Murray, let´s see what happens when they´re back if they are back at all

This is a great start. It has been a long time time since he started his year on such a high. Wimbledon would be the icing on the cake for me!
