Freak James Blake

* Blake hasn't been won a match after saving match point (ATP circuit). He lost 6 times after he had a match point...
* Blake shares the worst five-set record (0-9) in the Open era with... Marcus Hipfl.
* Blake has very lousy record in deciding tie-break (Futures, Challengers, ATP): 6-16...

Nonetheless he is currently 5-7 player in the world

because these stats obviously dictate his ranking. Throw out all those titles, and TMS final and USO QF

Blake was possibly the worst choker in mens tennis until 14-months ago ...
>>> However he has won 7-titles from 9-finals in the last 14-months, which puts him equal 2nd during that period [with Nadal] & only behind Federer ..
It`s safe to say Blake is finally redeeming himself, although the record in 5-set matches is obviously a mental hurdle

he's just now reaching his peak, give him time to find himself. 2007 will be a breakout

Nadal - Blake - Dimitrov - Del Potro - Isner - Fish - Haase

Blakes an enigma.

He has talent to spare, but is a serious head case.

Re: Freak James Blake

I know therefore he is an enigma. Such a good player with a mental hurdle (five-setters, decidings tie-breaks)...

stroke <- point <- game <- set <- MATCH -> round -> tournament -> season -> career
My favorite stats
Longest matches
Match points
Tie-breaks
Aces

You've never done much of anything, and you're ranked #6 idiot in the world.

Re: Freak James Blake

I love James' game. It's so great to watch when he's got it dialed in. The off and on mental side is excruciating as a fan though. Here's hoping he can break some of these negative records he holds in the near future.

Re: Freak James Blake

Eh, this may have been as "broken out" of a year as he will have. The top 10-15 is loaded with guys with tons of skill but are equally loaded with mental hurdles/inconsistency.
