Will Marat Safin Be In The Top 20 After TMS Paris?

Should Safin win in Moscow his ranking will rise to #41 in the world and going into the TMS Madrid and Paris he has no ranking points to defend.

Do you think its likely that after playing the final 2 Masters Tournaments of the year he'll be able to climb back into the Top 20?

What sort of performances will he need from Madrid and Paris to at least be within the Top 15 - 20?

Thanks.

Well, I think if he reaches the finals of both TMS, then he's close to the TOP20. Not really sure how many points he needs to get there, though. Someone here in MTF could compute that for us.

Re: Will Marat Safin Be In The Top 20 After TMS Paris?

Actually if Safin were to win Madrid he would then have 1265 points which would prolly be enough to be world #19.

So if he won both tournaments he would be world #12.

I think to at least be in the Top 20 he'd need to be a semi finalist at either Madrid or Paris and a finalist at either Madrid or Paris would would make him about #18 in the world.

As that will most probably not happen the answer is NO.

He won them both back to back in 2004.

Should he win Moscow it may give him the boost to go deep in both tournament whereby he may at least come close to the Top 20.

Eh, I hope so. It'd be nice if 2007 started with Marat and A-Rod in best form, and all the young guns playing consistently well.

Time for Pimms...

I seriously doubt it.

Fan of: Federer Safin Haas Nadal Santoro Agassi Tursunov's blog

Back in the top 20 after Australian Open next year is a decent chance.
