Will Ljubo defend Vienna or will Gonzalez take the title?

Ljubo vs Feña

2006 ATP Masters Series Canada R16 Gonzalez 6-4 6-7(4) 7-6(3)
2006 World Team Championship Dusseldorf, Clay RR Ljubicic 7-5 6-7(4) 6-4
2006 ATP Masters Series Monte Carlo Q Gonzalez 7-5 6-1
2005 ATP Masters Series Madrid Hard Q Ljubicic 4-6 7-6(2) 6-4
2005 Vienna Hard Q Ljubicic 6-3 7-5
1999 Washington DC, Hard R64 Gonzalez 1-6 6-3 6-4

They are tied at 3-3

These two have some good matches and they seem to get along quite well and Ljubo has defeated Gonzo here before and can he defend his title or will Gonzalez get him this time.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Will Ljubo defend Vienna or will Gonzalez take the title?

Good match, but I think Ljubo will win. He seems unstoppable in Viena, and Gonzo won't have a lot of time to rest (he had a rally against Roddick, and still has to play doubles semis partnering Calleri). But I want GUNzalez to win this one.

P.S: best of 5 sets, right?

Yes, it's a best of 5 final in Vienna. It's good to see the players are evenly matched and it doesn't matter to me who wins, though Gonzalez needs the points more.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Gonzalez needs to develop a backhand.

You need to see the match of today and have to eat your own words

His backhand is a lot better than it was, he has improved as a player. I mean Ljubo is going to be peppering it on serve, but these guys know each other quite well and the question is how well Gonzo returns and if he does return well whether he can break down Ljubo's forehand.

Re: Will Ljubo defend Vienna or will Gonzalez take the title?

Gonzalez's backhand has been quite good in the last matches against Roddick and Nalbandian. It's not a tasteless slice anymore... he gets a lot of winners with that shot nowadays.

I hope Fena will win more, because he has a much tougher draw and he hasn't won a title this year.We all know Ivan is not good enough in final...
It should be a tight match!

Stan The Paris Man

Cheer for: Wawrinka Murray Ljubicic Gonzalez Mahut Nishikori Soderling Tipsarevic Mathieu Monfils Muller Tsonga Berdych Acasuso O.Rochus Kiefer...

I watched all the match in the US, the last one between them, when Ljubicic lost. It was a long time since I watched him playing so awfully. As he's playing much better now, I can't see him losing.

Vienna is a good surface for Ljubo, it's about the right speed for him as he is not someone who has compact swings on his groundstrokes, so it gives him enough time in the rallies, but not so slow it negates his serve.

Ljubo is the fave here and that is not such a bold statement, but he will want to win it before it gets to a 5th set.

He became Guga now? or Gaudio, for that matter?

Roddick hits so many forehands when he should hit simple backhands that anyone can make winners like that.
