I feel more or less as the OP ... Ryan worked quite hard in the past year or so, he toughened up mentally, and deserved this title.
Happy for him and hoping he continues upwards

Oboy, a Georgian hasn't choked this hard since Saakashvili choked away South Ossetia and Abkhazia to Russia

HE was showing good signs when he defeated Milos at the USO (he even has a winning record against him) but a title is surprising to say the least. He's actually turned his career around, he looked like a completely mug when he BARELY outlasted retired Fish at Cincinatti.

Well done Harrison.

Keep working Niko. But I'm a little bummed. This seemed a very good opportunity .

It's been a few years since the last time I've seen Harrison play. His backhand is much improved, but I was really blown away by how much quicker he is. He might actually catch Sock this year in the rankings at this rate.

Re: Memphis F: Harrison def. Basilashvili 6-1, 6-4, wins maiden ATP Tour title

Ryan! Finally gets his first ATP title. Not a single set lost, playing with great defense and controlled agression throughout the week. He was tearing up in the trophy ceremony saying how months ago it felt like he was going nowhere. His career has really been a roller coaster. I hope this title and getting back into the top 50 is the sign of better things to come. Whatever happens, this moment will stick with him.

Niko good week for him, another player on the rise. Ryan did well to save most of those BPs, but he should have been able to take some of them. Still, nice stepping up in the second set after a bad first one. Better luck next time.

Well from what I hear many were disgruntled about Harrison being overhyped before, and the gifting of WC's to him, but I guess this may show his potential to do well is still there, and maybe could get to what many expect from him, although I wonder what his peak really is.

a grinder with a big serve has been #1 and won a Slam in the past, so you never know..

Re: Memphis F: Harrison def. Basilashvili 6-1, 6-4, wins maiden ATP Tour title

Congrats to Harrison, incredible run of 20 straight sets to win a 125K and a 250 event, wonder if he can carry this momentum to do some damage in the March Masters.

As for Basilashvili, these two weeks were even more surprising, as a 24-year-old the next few months may determine whether he can really get to a higher level or just stay as a dangerous floater.

Enjoy every moment of tennis. Enjoy the rise of the young, the brilliance of the peak, and the passion of the old. Enjoy dominance, enjoy diversity.

Fight. Drama. Shots. Epic matches, fun stats, tennis!

This title is just the first step towards top 10.
