Even ATGs believe La Decima will be happening this year. 10 titles at a single slam - Arguably the most impressive achievement EVER! I think if RAFA goes back to his 2013 or even 2014 form AND stays healthy/fit he can beat anybody regardless of their form but we'll see.
About it being too early you're correct but I think Becker was assuming RAFA carries over the form and the mental toughness he has shown at the AO (first time in '15-'16 he won 5 setters in a slam). I just hope RAFA doesn't pick up an injury at RG like last year... :crying:
He also said Murray and Djokovic are the favorite for AO. If AO2017 taught us anything is that everything can happen  Who would've thought Djokovic would lose to Istomin? Nobody. Murray losing to M.Zverev? Federer winning 18th GS after 6 months defeating nadal after being 1-3 down in the 5th (had a chance to go 4-2 up)..Everything can happen.
Making predictions before a single major clay tournament is kind of dumb, but yeah, at this stage Nadal should be co-favourite. The thing is that Murray, Djokovic, Nadal and Wawrinka all have a roughly equal shot at winning it, so his chances still aren't great.
Also how the heck is ten slams at one venue the "greatest ever achievement"? It shows Nadal's extreme dominance of clay, but also exposes just how poor he is (relative to Fed and Djokovic) away from his favourite surface given that fully two thirds of his major titles would have come at Roland Garros.

His is too great on clay that it makes folks like you wrongly assume that he is poor on other surfaces, that in itself makes 10 RGs, beating his own 9 RGs out of 10 tries, the greatest ever achievement. He is the greatest on clay and great on other surfaces.
Relative to Federer, non-clay:
Australian Open: 3-1
Wimbledon: 1-2
Overall: 4-3
Relative to Djokovic, non-clay:
Australian Open: 0-1
Wimbledon: 1-1
US Open: 2-1
Overall: 3-3
Of course, he is. When isn't he the favourite there? If anyone says 2014, he still won Madrid that year. He was the favourite in 2015 and 2016 as well.
As of now I'd say the favorites to win Roland Garros are:
01. Novak Djokovic SRB
02. Rafael Nadal ESP
03. Stan Wawrinka SUI
04. Andy Murray GBR
...................................... Big drop off
05. Roger Federer SUI
...................................... Big drop off
06. Kei Nishikori JAP
07. Dominic Thiem AUT
08. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga FRA
09. David Goffin BEL
...................................... Big drop off
10. Milos Raonic CAN
Right now he is, as he's shown us he can get into a slam Final again, and he's won it 9 times. There's no reason he's not the favourite from what little information we have right now. I think if he wins MC he's very likely to win another one.

A very impressive achievement admittedly but clearly not the most impressive ever. There are other achievements that could be ranked higher. That doesn't discredit Nadal, La Decima would be fantastic but lets not get ahead of ourselves eh!
Also, may I ask, why do you always write Rafa in block capitals?
Well. I think Djokovic is a bit more prone to upsets on the clay than Nadal, but if the two should meet, I favor Djokovic.
All in all, Novak is slim fave for the title in my book.
01. Novak Djokovic
02. Rafael Nadal
03. Andy Murray
04. Stan Wawrinka
05. Roger Federer
06. Dominic Thiem
07. Kei Nishikori
08. Nick Kyrgios (!)
09. Milos Raonic
10. Juan Martin del Potro
11. David Goffin
12. Grigor Dimitrov
13. Gael Monfils
14. Alexander Zverev
15. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga
16. Tomas Berdych
Too early to tell obviously.
There must something seriously wrong with this world if people like BB start jinxing out of the blue.
Dimitrov better win his first match in Paris before somebody starts placing him no. 20 in the favorite list
Who? You mean Delpotro? What has he ever done on clay? :haha:
