Cilic > Tsonga

It has recently come to my attention that Marin Cilic looks to have actually had a better career than Jo Wilfred Tsonga.

I would have always said Tsongs had a better career but the below details have made it look like Cilic on papper has had a better one....

Thoughts???

Cilic Leads the H2H 5-1!

He also has a Slam title to his name, something that eludes the Frenchman.

He owns 16 ATP title's in comparison to Tsonga's 12.

3 years younger he is just shy of total prize money too, which he will probably catch him on eventually.

The highest ranking is something that goes in Tsonga's favour but it is only a 1 spot difference.

Re: Cilic > Tsonga

Let's put it this way: 2 weeks of USO 2014 of Cilic is way better than Clownga's WHOLE CAREER.

Re: Cilic > Tsonga

That was always quite obvious, Tsonga is a worse player in every regard, but he never makes a mockery of himself like Mugrin does at times.

Re: Cilic > Tsonga

These kind of debates between Tsonga, Del Potro, Cilic, Ferrer, Berdych (or even Soderling) are probably going to continue, not much between them right now and all of them have arguments to be better than each other.

Enjoy every moment of tennis. Enjoy the rise of the young, the brilliance of the peak, and the passion of the old. Enjoy dominance, enjoy diversity.

Re: Cilic > Tsonga

Cilic, but i consider Tsonga to be more consistent in GS, reaching to the last rounds more often than Cilic ( i don´t have the statistic though, maybe i`m wrong).

Re: Cilic > Tsonga

Tsonga has a better career, 3 x more big finals, 3 x big semis and 3 x y.e top 10 finishes, but younger Cilic is greater because of GS title + one masters title to Tsonga' two masters.

Tsonga 6 big finals, 16 big semis, 6 y.e top 10.

Cilic 2 big finals, 5 big semis, 2 y.e top 10.

Re: Cilic > Tsonga

What kind of question is this? Cilic is already better than Tsonga after 2014.

Those are irrelevant stats and pales in comparison to Cilic's USO '14. He beat a well playing Federer, Birdshit and peak Nishikori (who had taken out peak Djokovic) en route.

There is no luck involved when you give Federer his biggest beatdown at a hard court slam.

Cry me a river.
Arrow, svenbj and vladisimo like this.

Federer was just tired after his epic QF, it was also his first day session match of the tournament.
