Thanks god. 2017 is not lost at all.

The court in Rotterdam suits Thiems game much more than the fast and low-bouncing court in Sofia.

Well, I hope that was the much-needed confidence-boost right before Acapulco and the clay-season

Its hard to trust the youngsters nowadays to win something meaningful and not clowning around....

Zverev could have won if he didnt miss the BP in the 2nd set.
Thiem then was the better player till the end.

well thiem maybe wouldn t have lost the first set if he took one of the bp when he was 40-0 on zverevs serve.

Re: Rotterdam R1: Thiem def. Zverev 3-6 6-3 6-4

The result took me by surprise, but I must say that Thiem played well in set 2 and 3, at least those parts of the match that I saw. Really nice angle on that forehand cross and beautiful one-hand backhands down the line.

I wonder if there was some mental fatigue going on with A.Zverev, he started off almost too easily in the first set. Nevertheless, Thiem played better and won.

At least Hyperev's assault on the ranks is delayed for a while. The kid's promising, but the hype is disgusting.

Harsh draw for both and sadly Sascha couldn't keep it up, but i somehow expected it. Additionaly Thiem finally played a good Match again and hopefully makes a Semifinal here at least

As for Sascha take a good rest, you need it after the last 10 days. Marseille (or Acapulco) is next

Good win for Thiem, hopefully this boosts his confidence going forward.

Unlucky for Zverev, who did have his chances. Rotten luck to have drawn Thiem in the opening round but if you want to reach the top you've got to be able to navigate tough draws.

Re: Rotterdam R1: Thiem def. Zverev 3-6 6-3 6-4

A much needed win for Thiem over an in-form opponent. This is his first top 20 win this season. Hopefully he's out of his slump now.

All of his three other wins over Zverev came on clay so it's good for Thiem to prove that he can get the win over Zverev on hard court as well.

No. He plays Marseille next week and Acapulco the week after that.

Interestingly enough, Thiem, Zverev, and Karlovic are the only players in the top 20 playing every week this month.

Goffin - Nishikori - Dimitrov - Schwartzman

FITD Titles: Gold Medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games - 2017 Chennai Open

Re: Rotterdam R1: Thiem def. Zverev 3-6 6-3 6-4

Since I started watching this match in the 3rd set during the game Dominic lost his serve, he was complaining about his play all the time. Maybe everything wasn't clicking for him, but it wasn't bad play. Sometimes you could think he requires too much from himself.
H2H is 4-1 now, it's interesting how it will be changing in the future.
