Rotterdam R1: [5] Dimitrov def. M. Zverev 6-7(4) 6-2 6-4

Enjoyable match to watch, another close match which Dimitrov probably would have lost a year ago where he prevails. Mischa played really well at times, but wasn't consistent enough in the last two sets.

Dimitrov shows Djokovic and Murray how to beat these guys

Re: Rotterdam R1: [5]Dimitrov def. M.Zverev 6-7(4) 6-2 6-4

I only watched the 3rd set, so no idea what happened before.

Good win by Grigor. Playing Mischa is kinda like playing a poor man Llodra, tricky at the start, so despite being an easy matchup on paper, it needs a lot of focus.

Kudos for Mischa for winning a TB against Dimitrov, not an easy task these days, since he wins like 70% of them.

Istomin next, dangerous match, specially because it's pretty much a R1, Mischa give you no baseline rhytm at all. If he goes through Istomin, I will expect another Sunday of tennis for Dimitrov.

At least what Mischa could take from this is that his level is maybe where he needs to be and it is just the consistency the thing he's just has to manage.

Decent match, excellent returning from Dimitrov as well, okay otherwise.

Not a very convincing win but Mischa was playing very well must be said. Dimitrov was clutch when it mattered

Istomin is back to his inconsistent self, although there are flashes of AO strokes from him occasionally.

Congratulate Rafa on an amazing comeback. I don’t think either of us would believe we would be in the Final of the Australian Open when we saw each other at your academy 4 or 5 months ago . I’m happy for you. I would have been happy to lose too. The comeback was perfect as it was. Tennis is a tough sport, there is no draws. If there’s gonna be one, I would have been happy to accept it tonight and share it with Rafa really.

Yeah, he wasn't great in the match against Bedene, but he was still placing the 1st serve in great spots and hitting the ball well.

Biggest problem with Istomin is always his movement, he almost had to give up tennis because of a leg injury a few years ago.

Can Grigor finally reach his potential? He is already on a run of almost two months of good form.

Re: Rotterdam R1: [5]Dimitrov def. M.Zverev 6-7(4) 6-2 6-4

Dimitrov needed the entire 1st set to adapt himself to Mischa's game, especially service return and hitting position for passing shots. After that, the result was NID. In the 2nd and 3rd sets, Mischa was rushing to the net as if there is no tomorrow and got passed or clean return winners almost everytime. Seems like Dimitrov learnd how to play against Mischa during the match, which Andy could'nt.
