So Safin leads the head-to-head slightly over Hewitt at 6-5

Both have 2-Slam wins at two different Slams

Both have made another 2-Finals at Slams

Both have helped their countries to Davis Cup success

Hewitt has more titles

Safin has more TMS

Hewitt has two TMC

Safin won their most important encounter at the AO final last year

Both still have another 3-4 years left in which to further their legacy

***Who will be remembered as the better player

Hewitt because he made the most out of his talents.

~I like the way you think ....However I`m more interested in who will be remembered as being better ...Which one has made the most of their respective talents is slightly off the point..

OMG this such a difficult one
I'd say Hewitt because of his consistency and his time at #1.
Otherwise they are pretty even...Of course Safin has the most potential but he just has never unleashed all....

Safin made #1 briefly too back in 2000 & really should have been Year End #1 that year but Kuerten stole his thunder at the final post (Lisbon TMC)

I`m also curious about which of these two gladiators can still make the most of their remaining careers~~ probably another 3-4 years in which one of them ore both may still win another Slam

Re: #``#~Let`s try a better comparison! ~Hewitt or Safin~ who`s legacy will be grea

I wouldn't rule out either of them winning a GS again, you can't tell for sure.

If neither of them ever win a GS again, I think Hewitt would be remembered as being better, he was reigning Wimbledon, US Open and Masters champ for a spell. Safin's GS wins came in 2000 and then in 2005, more one-offs.

With the good people.

MANCHESTER UNITED TREBLE WINNERS 1998-99.
PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 2006-7. Take that, John Terry!

i like these threads

again i give my vote to Rocky... he has a wimbledon, 2 years as No1 and a couple of Masters cups as well, a few steps above Marat.

i mean anything marat has done you could say hewitt did...
but he did beat him in that AO final which must have hurt the aussie and is 1Up in matches.

As of right now. Hewitt wins fairly clearly.

Champions deserve whatever they win playing within the laws of the game

Nobody can seriously think Safin had the better career.
Hewitt leads every relevant statistic.

But Safin is far better than Johan Kriek, because Kriek won only pseudo slams.

Hewitt will have a greater legacy- two year end number ones. (Saddest statistic in the history of the ATP)

Sorry that statistic doesn`t mean much does it ~~ just their respective year to date win/loss stats ....

BTW,..for anyone interested this video link has one of my favorite Hewitt moments-->> when he finished of Nalbandian 10-8 in the 5th set of last year`s AO .........Hope people remember Lleyton`s fighting spirit when they think of his legacy..

Dang. It's hard to say.....at this point, I think Hewitt, but i've a feeling that Marat isn't done winning just yet. Marat is clearly more talented, but Hewitt has been able to make more of what he's been given.

Hewitt...hands down...Two year-end #1's...getting the most out of his talent...Marat will be remembered as one of the greatest squanderers of talent in the history of tennis
