Will Nadal Be The Next World #1 Or Will Someone Else Replace Federer?

Eventually Federer will lose his #1 ranking perhaps either in 2007 or 2008 and when that time comes do you think it's more likely that Nadal will still be hanging around just behind Federer to assume the top position or that by then another player will be ready to swoop in and take the #1 mantle such as a Andy Roddick, Marcos Baghdatis or even a Richard Gasquet.

Thanks.

The obligatory "Xristos" response.

With that done, my vote goes to Nadal.

Fan of: Federer Safin Haas Nadal Santoro Agassi Tursunov's blog

"I couldn't even tell you who the No. 1 ranked tennis player in the world is right now," Federer said. "It's probably me, still. It is, isn't it?" The Onion

Russophilic member of the MTF Perv Squad--objectifying Tarpischev, Kafelnikov, and Volkov like whoa.

Oooh, a fresh topic.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Federer is improving rapidly to this day. And due to his style of play, even when his physical aspects have become wary, his results won't.

Players will come along with the ability to beat him. But none will have the sustained dominance and confidence on all surfaces to overtake no.1.
He will retire as the word. no.1

I think Federer can remain #1 for a long time yet. If he doesn't get sick, hurt, or tired of playing tennis. So with all the time that may pass until then it would be very hard to pick who will take over as #1.

I think Federer can hang on his no.1 position past 2008.

But definitely my vote goes to Nadal.
