And, the ATP surprise is............ATP Confidential Blog Book

ATP Confidential Blog Book
Price: 24.99

Go behind the scenes of the ATP Tour with ATP Confidential: Behind the Scenes with the World's Greatest Tennis Players. This entertaining book features the immensely popular player blogs which became a smash hit with tennis fans during the 2006 tennis season. Building on the overwhelming popularity of the ATPtennis.com player blogs, this coffee table book features excerpts of posts made by the world's leading tennis players. The personalities of the game's biggest stars are showcased, including tennis' 1-2 punch of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

ATP Confidential provides an insider's look at life on the professional tennis circuit from tour stops on five different continents. The 176-page book opens with Ivan Ljubicic ringing in 2006 at the players' party in Chennai, and follows with James Blake's time zone challenge in watching American football from Sydney, Tommy Robredo's victory striptease in Hamburg, Jurgen Melzer's adventures in a Casablanca bazaar and Robby Ginepri's adoration of Holly (a.k.a. Miss Waffle House USA). The book also features a special blog tribute to Andre Agassi, written by tennis' top journalists at the US Open.

Dmitry Tursunov's tales from Estoril, which earned the Russian blogging stardom, is a centerpiece of ATP Confidential.
Sports Illustrated's Jon Wertheim writes in the book foreword: "Tursunov's six-piece opus was an instant cult hit, a boundlessly entertaining, LOL funny mix of wit and insight that pulled back the curtain on professional tennis."

Now available for preorder. Books due to arrive November 17, 2006.

Soft back, 176 pages.
Includes player photos taken during the player blogs

Re: And, the ATP surprise is............ATP Confidential Blog Book

While I applaud the idea, I don't see how I'm going to shell out 25 bucks for something I can access over the Internet.

But on the other hand, this might help the ATP market itself to tennis fans who might not have been aware of the blog. So I guess it would pay off in the end.

I thought they might be adding a regular q&a or comments section to the blogs to increase fan interaction, but this Anyone that into them should utilise their printer and save themselves $30 bucks

Will there be stuff in the book that was not published online? If not I won't be buying it.

Ummmm, I thought coffee table books were hard back. Way too much money for a soft back book IMHO.

I could only see this book doing well for retired people who don't know how to surf the Internet.

Couldn't they just get Dima to write an entire book and publish that?
seriously, what point is there in bringing out a book full of stuff that you can read at their site

Does Wertheim's foreword include a message to Dima that his DC win over Roddick doesn't really count or mean anything because he isn't living in a cardboard box in a Moscow alleyway?

Yes, it really doesn't make sense when "coffee table books" and "soft back book" are used to describe the same book.

Usually for someone reading a "coffee table" book, he/she was stuck in places with nothing better to do and couldn't go anywhere else. And he/she could not use a cellphone or wireless internet.
