Unbelievable result for the sport, the tournament and this incredible man. Anything other than the 3-peat would be very disappointing.

Amazing. VEB is unstoppable at this tournament. Not even 39 aces from Dr Ivo could stop him.

We are not worthy. Seriously, everyone who watches this man play tennis should be ashamed for thinking they deserve it.

Karlovic's 39 aces is a record for a best of three on clay.

Only the GOAT returner can allow you hit 39 aces on meaningless points throughout the match but force you to hit DF on a match point.

I wonder if Djokovic plays here how close it would be -- he's not an expert against slice (but not as bothered as before), some s&v mix-up and consistent big serving.

What is it about this event that makes Estrella play so well, congrats on the "upset".

Had a look last night for Bo3 ace count on clay, last ten years Isner 31, Karlovic 30. Ironically, as with here, they both lost.

Pretty rare record because those 2 either don't play the events where it's likely to happen (Gstaad, Sao Paulo when it was indoors), or the competition is so strong they are likely to go out very early (Madrid).

Such an awesome result, VEB setting new standards in Quito. Great to see how much it means to him, very likeable guy.

Legend, most likely Quito will be decided in another showdown against Bellucci, who only lost to him so far in Quito.
