Quito R2: (Q) Gaio def. G. Melzer 6-7(4) 6-3 7-6(2), Melzer led *5-4 40-0

Melzer actually managed to top his choke to De Minaur, which takes some doing. 5-4 *40-0 up and Ad-In.

Embarassing choke considering the conditions .

*5-4 40-0 isn't exactly a massive choke, it's not like he lost a double break and let's face it, Lesser Melzer isn't that great, even on his favourite surface.

Melzer's first serve is near unreturnable on these courts (speaking of which, no idea how anyone is getting a Karlovic serve in play this week). I actually think Melzer has quite a bit of talent, just mentally even worse than his brother.

He got broken 3 times and his serving stats were worse than Gaio's .

Gaio barely won points on Melzer's first serve in the 1st and 3rd sets- except at the last stages of the latter.

Would be interesting to pull out some stats, players losing matches when serving out a match with *40-0, the numbers must be VERY LOW.

Gaio's matches this week:

Q1: Last set 7-6
Q2: He saved a match point on return at 4-5* 30-40 in second set, won it in tiebreak, then won it 6-4 in the third.
R1: Won against Souza in the third 7-5

Now this.

This guy is having his clutchest week ever.

it was a massive choke, you just didn t watch the match .Well I did ,this guy had 5-4 40-0,then sudently couldn t find the court with any shot, easy netted fh ,easy fh miles out ,I think he made a df also ...then this continued in the tie break,it was one of the best chokes of the year easily.

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.

I play tennis and I can safely say that I'd rather have 5-4 40-0 lead on my serve than double break. Every. Single. Time.
