Disgusting crowd I really wanted JJ to win because of how rude the crowd was. Hopefully Viktor wins and send them to ruins.

This was an absurd tennis match and the atmosphere was fantastic too.

Janowicz played very well, hopefully he can play more matches like this one, if he does, he will jump the rankings a lot and very soon.

Dimitrov wasn't at his best, but played well too and very focused. Also made some unbelievable shots, tough to say which one was the better shot: that one he chased a great drop shot and hit an impossible counter drop or that backhand crafty shot he made off very powerful Jerzy's forehand to save BP. I think I'll take the 2nd one, when he hit I though that was going 5 km out, no way he was able to control that.

a.k.a.
Doktor Carpet -- The Fogmeister -- Ragnar Lothbrok -- Sicario

Do you wonder what I've been doing the last 3 months?

Although I agree about the crowd, every time Troicki wins, tennis dies a little bit...so no

Re: Sofia R2: [3] G.Dimitrov def. J.Janowicz 4-6 6-3 7-5

BP conversion rate:

Dimitrov - 2/6
Janowicz - 1/7

Dimitrov was very clutch on most of the BPs he faced and that was the difference. He really shouldn't have any issues winning the tournament now.

It's interesting how Janowicz can play so well against top players (Djokovic at US Open, Cilic at Australian Open, and this match) but plays very poorly in challengers. I don't know if it's lack of motivation when playing smaller matches or just incredible inconsistency. Hopefully he can have a big run at one of the bigger tournaments coming up and get himself back into the top 100.
Uncle Latso and Shapovalover like this.

Goffin - Nishikori - Dimitrov - Schwartzman

You're also on course to get another prediction right. No more sets for Grigor to drop from here onwards...

Re: Sofia R2: [3] G.Dimitrov def. J.Janowicz 4-6 6-3 7-5

That was a great match from both players, Janowicz was really playing way above his normal level(or should I say current and future level ?), no dumb dropshots, only 1 DF, he was very focused. Dimitrov played some loose games here and there, but pretty satisfying win overall. Things look promising for Janowicz after 3 tough years. We'll see if he can keep this up or go back to terrible form. Also wonder if it's just the motivation to play against a top 20 player. as he seems poor against the lower ranked guys.

That backhand pass to save BP in the 3rd set is easily one of the best shots Dimitrov has hit ever, I have no idea how he did that, just brilliant shot.

Troicki next, he gave Dimitrov a lot of trouble last year, but I really hope given Dimitrov's current form he'll have no issues and wins comfortably, but I'm not ruling out any possibilities.

Great match and drama (as 2017 matches have been), horrible crowd. Janowicz as shown has the game to still be a Top 30 player, but his mentality seems to be below Top 300. From what I saw, it seems Janowicz DID change his coach, and one of them is Bresnik, which I guess shows some promise hopefully on his comeback. Dimitrov played well with some ridiculous shots, and was quite focused when Janowicz was about to break first in the 3rd Set, and of course waited for Janowicz' inevitable meltdown, which hopefully he could somehow minimize as the years go.

Maybe it's expectations -- against Top 20 players, he feels he's got nothing to lose and just focus on the ball than the player. Against lower ranked players, he probably puts too much pressure on himself, thinking he should win. As we see Janowicz' game is SO volatile that a dip is exploitable by a solid Top 30 player and is proven vulnerable against those lower ranked players (and he typically players worse when the pressure starts to really build). Like when Stan plays badly and can't focus on the game (like Janowicz sometimes expectations get to him).

Disgusting crowd? Dude, settle down.. Guaranteed half that crowd had never been to a tennis match before, and there was at least 12,000 people in there. The atmosphere was fantastic and the support was unreal. Wish more matches had this kind of crowd involvement. Stop hating.
