Which slam has the largest number of contenders?

What do you think? Which slam can realistically be won by other players than just the fab two. And which one has the most contenders?
Certainly Wimbledon can be ruled out, since it looks as if Roger cannot be threatened on grass, he is just miles ahead.
On clay Rafa is the undisputed king too, but perhaps not as dominant as Roger. Roger is without a doubt also a choice to win the FO. As darkhorses who could win when in form, there are players like Gaudio and Nalby, who else?
On hardcourt the number of players with a realistic shot seems to be larger, especially on Rebound Ace, where we have apart from Roger and Rafa (who has still to prove himself) Safin, Nalby, Arod, maybe Lleyton, Ljubo, Haas and in future Baghdatis and Gasquet. On decoturf this group is probably not as close because Roger in his own league but he can be threatened by every of these players.
So, what do you think, which slam has the most competitors?

Australian Open. Haas and Safin play particularly well there, and they are two guys that can really challenge Federer on their day. Baghdatis will probably be very dangerous in 2007 as well.

I am sure you are thinking of former winner Gaudio for RG but why did you neglect JCF

Re: Which slam has the largest number of contenders?

Definately the AO. I reckon 5 or 6 players have a realistic chance.
Then comes RG with 2.
Wimbledon and USO has only one contender.

Re: Which slam has the largest number of contenders?

Not disputing your argument that Rafa is the clear "King of Clay." However, history suggests that RG is the most difficult slam to repeat, thus making it more "wide open." Two in a row--Rafa, Kuerten, Bruguera, Courier. Three in a row--Borg. In order, from most wide open to least:

RG
AO
USO
