Volandri is on fire

Volandri is on fire. That's for sure, guyz. I'm wondering whether or not (he) is playing like a top-10 on clay, right now. What do you thing about it ?

In the meantime...take this , please.

Re: Volandri is on fire

Hey buddy, another Filo fan He has regained his clay form now and he has been brilliant for the last couple of months. I think now he can relax and concentrate on a good start to next year. Im not sure if hes top 10 clay courter, he has the abilities, but he has only reached 3rd round at most in Roland Garros (more due to bad luck).

Especially Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini

Juan Martin Del Potro

Roger Federer

Thomas Berdych

Re: Volandri is on fire

Pippo has the abilities to reach good results on clay. If he yet improves his services he will a treat for many next year.

Re: Volandri is on fire

i also see Volandri as a top10 claycourter... but he struggles at RG and cant pass the QF of the clay TMS
maybe next year he will break new ground in those events.

In those days (Monte Carlo, Rome, French Open) he was out of his shape to say the least. I would say: let's give him a chance and see what will happen the next year.

Re: Volandri is on fire

he has lost 2 qf's in monte carlo and 1 at hamburg, also plays good in his home event in rome...

Pippo is top10 on clay.. probably not top100 on any other surface

Re: Volandri is on fire

He made the quarters in Rome back in 2003 as well, losing a three-setter to Federer. In fact, here are the players he's lost to in Rome over the last five years: Robredo, Federer, Nalbandian, Gaudio, Nadal. Trouble is, while he's good for a decent run in a TMS the lack of cheap points on serve really starts to hurt over five sets, that must be a major reason why his best Slam result is only one third round at RG last year.

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Yes, I think he had a wrist injury and retired after going 3-0 down against Acasuso, whom he doesn't like playing anyway.

Re: Volandri is on fire

I think if Filo stays in shape he can have a good year next year. Top 20 overall is too far I think, but hopefully he can get back to the top 30 with a good performance in a GS or Master Series.

Re: Volandri is on fire

Volandri is a loser at heart whose only achievements till the end of his ordinary career will be another couple of crappy clay titles. He's just one of the many. Useless junk

I agree. Tennis is not an Italian sport.

That's the worst common place and the dumbest thing I ever heard. so sorry.
Just a question: Who's the Croatian best ranked female player ?
Uhmhmhmh..let me think...Maybe Kostanic ? or Sprem ? or Lisjak ? the little sister Sanja ?
Talking in the same way I could say "Tennis in not a Croatian Sport", but I won't. coz it's a very poor argument, IMO.

Still friends, guys. but do not trash talk about Italians. OK ? ;-)

cheers
