Federer is 35 years of age, he hasn't played in 6 months and yet he can come back and routine Nishikori. Just mad. What a shame it will be when this man retires.

Very surprised by his level, it's incredible how well he plays right now. However, Kei is helping with zero-brain-applied game.

I don't often praise Federer, lets just say it was a moment of weakness

Can't wait for Fraud to lose in QF to German fluke ;)

Honestly, Roger continues to amaze me. I had my doubts about his successful return, due to his age, but damn. He's proved me wrong so far. Hell, at this rate, he'll still be around when he's 40+ and the rest of the Big 4 have retired

Legend. I can't believe that he was able to beat Nishikori in the 5th set after losing the 4th set and the momentum in the match. Especially since Nishikori has an amazing 5-set record (15-5 before this match) and an open era record of best winning percentage in deciding sets.

Even when he got a break up in the 5th set, I still thought Nishikori might come back.

The 17th ranked 35-year old beats the 5th ranked 27-year old. Absolute legend.

Regards,

-David

Respect for the old man when respect is due.
But since when is a 5-set win a routine win?

I had little hopes for his comeback, too. And he was a bit rusty in the first two rounds and could have easily lost.

But what then happened, is a miracle. He is a true hero and a role model for everyone.

That being said, i still dont think he will win the AO. That would be insane.

Please don't use such generalized phrase. He is a hero and role model for Fedtards only.

Like him or not, what Federer has done so far in this tournament is simply special.

I admit it, I don't like him as a person, I feel he's just selling the "nice guy" image but as a tennis player all I can do is to take off my hat, stand up and applaud.

Having said that, these last two games must mean something for the future of tennis.

Tomas Berdych, a Top 10 player (albeit not for long) was humiliated and as someone else correctly pointed out before me, "the 17th ranked 35-year old beats the 5th ranked 27-year old".

It is clear that in the last few years we were blessed with four superheroes which pushed the game to the limits. Tier two players like Nishikori and Raonic could only watch with only Stan having the balls to challenge them and beat them to grand slams.

But what about the rest?

Who will replace Federer when he retires? It's a fact that in recent years we were blessed with some phenomenal tennis and I very much doubt we will witness anything close to this in the next decade.

As they say, enjoy it while you can.

Federer is never too much :wink2: Can't get enough of his tennis!

Many (hateful and/or not loving tennis/sports) people wrote him off years ago and look at Roger now. Coming back and playing great tennis. It's clear by now the man loves the game. In a way he 'is' the game. When you hear him talk during the on court post-match interview, I mean, he talks about tennis and the tour with so much love and knowledge without being everybody's friend. He probably likes Nishikori, but he doesn't hold back and just states Kei isn't the biggest server on tour. Realistic and honest.

The world of tennis will be different with Roger not present anymore. We saw that in the last six months.
