Why is Roddick out-aced everytime?

Is it something about the placement of serve?
Opponent's return?
Roddick's own returning skills?

His opponent's serve has nothing to do with it, that's for sure.

Vass must be getting really scared about Dima-Andy if he felt the need to start a troll thread about Roddick.

It's been comming along for a week or two when i was forced to watch Andy's matches. Soory.

I couldn't help it: the above fact just strikes me as hilarious.

Re: Why is Roddick out-aced everytime?

1) his return is terrible
2) his serve is predictable

chances are that he has more service winners than his opponents, but he gets outaced a lot

my favorite was the worst number 3 player in the world

Actually few players serve more aces in a match involving Roddick. Only Federer regularly does it.

The current greatness league of active players in order of achievements to date (a factual comparison rather than fan biased assessment):

Federer 17 GS, 6 Year End Masters, 24 Master Series.
Nadal 14 GS, 27 Master Series, 1 Olympic Gold.
Djokovic 9 GS, 4 Year End Masters, 24 Master Series.

Re: Why is Roddick out-aced everytime?

He has higher percentages of first serve points won, he just aces less.

He's going for less on his serves. I think that's forcing him to work on his game rather than depend on his serve to bail him out.

Karlovic's stats are just ridiculous. He tops 3 of the Service game categories. I bet he's hit more serves that backhands.

Re: Why is Roddick out-aced everytime?

Hitting aces requires accuracy, not power. Andy's serve is good at forcing errors but he doesn't possess enough accuracy.

Re: Why is Roddick out-aced everytime?

Every time? Surely this is not common that he gets outaced. It happens against a few players who have both strong service plus return (Marat, Roger, etc.) but I don't think Agassi or Lleyton who are great in returns but not as much in service, ever did outace him.

Re: Why is Roddick out-aced everytime?

Agassi is a bad example, he's been relatively easy to ace the last few years. Marcos had one more ace than him in Melbourne, MURRAY had one more ace than him in San Jose, Benneteau had 4 more in Memphis, Andreev had more in IW.

It's that his return his poor. It's not a serving problem.

Actually, according to the stats, Dima's fastest serve was faster than Andy's.
