Ivo did well to finish this off. With Goffin and Karlovic pushed to 5 setters and Thiem in bad form, it opens the draw up for Stepanek to make a huge run .
Karlovic's played some epic matches these last few slams, amazing fighting spirit to persevere through all those games and pull off the comeback. I'll never be a big fan of his game, but his personality is really nice.
That has to be tough for Zeballos to lose a 2-0 Set lead and not get a Set after that. Seeing 7-5 in the 3rd means there was a 5-5 score, 2 games for Zeballos to finish it. And yet what an effort by Karlovic to come back! 5 hours is crazy even if it is mostly serving.
outside courts much quicker than RLA. Melzer was hitting thorugh Fed's slices with ease, wasn't even bothered to reply on it with slice. Today also, after few Verdasco's squash gets ball bounced high like he spin it back
Now this is why we should get rid of 5th set tiebreaks (and only have it at the USO for it's own uniqueness). In order to have a deserving win in a five setter, one must break serve at least once.
I was at the match from late in the fifth set and was transfixed by Zeballos serve ritual. I studied it even. It was more interesting than the match itself. Also the fireworks from the cricket kept going off when Karlovic was about to serve which aggravated him a little.
