Which of the other young players will come through win a slam and beat Nadal?

Nadal is no.2 in the world I would never dispute this fact. However, this year Gasquet, Murray, Marcos, Berdych and Djokovic all stepped up and moved to a new level. I think its only a matter of time before the other young players not only challenge but beat Nadal. The question is though is not if they will do it but when.

I don't know about Monfils Courier and John McEnroe say he's a real talent but I did not like his defensive play at the US OPEN. To be 6 foot 4 and play like that isn't right. I can honestly say out of all the the young players he is the one that hasn't impressed me this year. I think he can definitely play ont the clay but if he wants to be a serious contender he needs to make some adjustments. I expected more from him maybe now that he' wants a new coach and a new direction he will improve his game.

I think Murray I keep on hearing all this hype about him. And I am impressed he beat Roddick twice this year, he's beaten Hewitt and he beat Federer. He also won a title this year. If Murray can only get his fitness together he will be dangerous.

Gasquet is very talented but the mental aspect is his problem. Djokovic is perhaps the most naturally talented out of all the teenagers. He's is so talented. I can see him really storming through the rankings even higher next year.

Berdych and Baghdatis are the only ones who can play 5 sets.

Murray, Baghdatis and Gasquet are in a different league to Berdych and Monfils.

Murray has a lot of potential and so is Gasquet, but I think Gasquet would beat Nadal sooner since he has a more developed game.

Yeah, he has a bit of an advantage over the other group of upcoming players as he's more experienced.

Berdych is a good candidate

Re: Which of the other young players will come through win a slam and beat Nadal?

Great thread! The idea is in the air the whole season. I'd even say--who of these youths (Gasquet, Murray, Berdych, Djoko, Bagda and Monfils under question) is most likely to compete with Nadal in challenging No.1 position in ATP in the coming two years.

I am sure Gasquet is the one who is the closest to Nadal and Fed.

When he meets one of these guys he still wins easily as continuing their junior matches. He had no problems with both Murray and Berdych at Toronto, I wish he met Djoko (not Hewitt) at US Open. He is the most talented , no question, and he has no mental toughness problem, it's a bad cliche .

He needs to add physically but it's a question of time, nothing more. The big question is-- will he grow out of his childish attitude to the game ? But then..... will we love him so much?

BEAT NADAL?????? BERDYCH HAVE DONE IT.
So nonsense to pick him again. The next one maybe Gasquet or Murray, they improving so much this year esp. Murray.

But for winning the Slam, it shouldnt beat Nadal only, right?? So the title of this thread is confused me a bit.

I don't know if it will be any of them. It does not happen that often. Rafa has had an amazing year, by not only winning a Slam, but by getting to the finals on the grass of Wimbledon. He shocked the hell out of everyone with that stunt. If he stays healthy, then he could be the next dominant player.
