Re: Rios gains 5th title on seniors tour.

The man is too young to be on the seniors tour and is making it look silly.

The current greatness league of active players in order of achievements to date (a factual comparison rather than fan biased assessment):

Federer 17 GS, 6 Year End Masters, 24 Master Series.
Nadal 14 GS, 27 Master Series, 1 Olympic Gold.
Djokovic 9 GS, 4 Year End Masters, 24 Master Series.

Too true. He should be ashamed of being a long-time choker that simply gave up the circuit. What's the difficulty in beating a almost 50 year-old McEnroe, for instance?

Yeay for Marcelo!

Question Jen - I thought I read a few days ago that Marcelo planning on playing in Vina this year - is that true? I've been so busy that I didn't have a chance to translate the article and might have read the spanish incorrectly.

Physical (I think back) problems - he couldn't take the day in day out grind of the regular tour.

Re: Rios gains 5th title on seniors tour.

Hi Lynn - haven't caught up with you for ages! I made it to the uS Oopen, btw - saw Fer's first 15 mins - and then the rain - decided not to risk the Wednesday! Also saw Nico's first match - I expect you were there?

Apparently, Marcelo says no, he won't play Vina. There was some talk that tournament directors wanted him, and his father was negotiating with them. But on Friday, Marcelo said no. Of course, it could all change by Vina - he's desperate to win that title - and he should have won in that final against Sanchez.

Re: Rios gains 5th title on seniors tour.

In fact, Marcelo's doctor gave an interview about 2 weeks ago saying it was physically impossible for him to play the main tour. Goran started the seniors at 31 - not much outcry there - but then he didn't win as much as Marcelo.

Big deal. Gimelstob plays taking cortisone shots and so did Agassi in his last years. We all know Rios isn't that much of a hard-worker.

Re: Rios gains 5th title on seniors tour.

I've watched the match, it was funny because Rios made Goran run and run and run. Goran was like "please, stop it, I'm dead" At the end of the match Goran sat on his chair and pretended he was going to take a nap.

Btw in the on court interview Marcelo said "The Senior Tour is the best idea the ATP ever came up with" and Ivanisevic said he had to work on his fitness.

Oh, I wish we had meet up - I was at all Nico's matches and all Fer's matches except one. I missed Fer's match against Andy - I had planned to run back and forth from the grandstand, Armstrong, and AA for all the matches, but if I left Armstrong that day, I wouldn't have gotten back in because there were so many people trying to see Rafa. So I missed that great match. I was so bummed.

I did meet two of your fellow countrypersons. Two really nice women - one who was a big Nico fan! So we had a great time sitting together the 4 days they were there.

Hopefully Marcelo will change his mind - how cool would that be for him to play Vina!

OMG - really? She must have Sky tv then!

As for Fer's match with Roddick - what a heart-breaker, eh? How many days did you go altogether?

Actually she saw him win the gold in Athens! Lucky her...

It was a heart-breaker...though I like Andy so at least it was to someone I like. But Fer needed a big win too. They kept flashing the score in Armstrong so I was able to keep up with it.

I went from the first Monday to the second Monday. Plus was there for the qualifying and practice days (when it wasn't raining.... ).

How long were you there for?
