Hater opinions in GM ?

Isn't the GM section supposed to be more for news and neutral banter? Why are so many people posting their own hater threads on whom they think is boring or overrated or grotesque? Doesn't that belong in one's own personal fav's forum?

It seems like some poeple post their opinion as if that is some earth shattering breaking news that everyone needs to know about. However, it really just ends up to being an open invitation for back and forth attacks. What's the point? The bottom line is who might be exciting to one person, might be boring to someone else. We can go on and on ....but these discussions are getting repetataive.

I am not complaining about the light hearted obvious joke threads that make fun of everyone equally.

Re: Hater opinions in GM ?

They do, but GM has become so cluttered with these sort of threads recently that the Mods would probably have to delete 80% of threads in the first few pages. Personally, I think that these threads tend to surface straight after a tournament, and kinda die down after it's finished by a couple of week (did you see GM 2-3 days after the U.S Open?)

Hopefully, everyone will become too pre-ocupied with their own rising status in the Arse-Clown contest and forget the shortcomings of players they hate.

I think a lot of the crazy/funny/shitty threads in GM lately, actually has a lot to do with the Arse-Clown contest. Some threads are just so outrageous, I think that there is no way they can be serious.

Desire to do well in that contest is encouraging extreme behaviour.

The current greatness league of active players in order of achievements to date (a factual comparison rather than fan biased assessment):

Federer 19 GS, 6 Year End Masters, 26 Master Series.
Nadal 15 GS, 30 Master Series, 1 Olympic Gold.
Djokovic 12 GS, 5 Year End Masters, 30 Master Series.

You are probably right. I know how people love to discuss their opinions but I just think some appear not to realize that it's just opinion not a fact that the whole world agrees on. It might make more sense to have their fun in their fav's forum.

I only brought it up because I found myself getting drawn into these arguments and then I'd start to bash another player only to defend my own fav.....but that really doesn't make sense.

What contest? Oh that would explain it. If these things are reaching an art form that is understood not to be serious that's different.

See nontennis. And some posters take supporting their fav to a new level not only at the expense of other players but also posters. It is the latter I have the most difficulty with.

I saw the thread but the explanation is so long and complicated that I didn't read it. Are people trying to gain votes by posting obvious over the top opinions to annoy others? Is this what it's about? I wish I'd known that before. I guess it's too late for me to win the contest.
