Brisbane F: [7] Grigor Dimitrov def. [3]Kei Nishikori 6-2 2-6 6-3

Very impressive from Grigor after dropping that second set. Hopefully he can keep up the level for the whole year.
A bit of a disappointment from Kei, who took an MTO after the 2nd set but it wasn't clear to me if he was bothered by his recurring injury during the match. Hope he'll be fine in time for AO.

Congratulate Rafa on an amazing comeback. I don’t think either of us would believe we would be in the Final of the Australian Open when we saw each other at your academy 4 or 5 months ago . I’m happy for you. I would have been happy to lose too. The comeback was perfect as it was. Tennis is a tough sport, there is no draws. If there’s gonna be one, I would have been happy to accept it tonight and share it with Rafa really.

Nishikori was absolutely terrible in the 1st and 3rd set. Well played by Dimitrov especially near the end of 1st set. His serve looked real hot in the 3rd set.

What an upset. What a match. A tournament to remember for Dimitrov...

Not so much for Wawrinka..

Congratulations to Grigor and all his fans, what a tournament! Beating the world's #3, 5 and 8 during the same week! Valverdu has done wonders with Grigor in a very short span, I hope he continues to improve! Extreme focus and determination, no showboating or display of negative energy! That's the way to be a great champion!

RAFAEL NADAL and GRIGOR DIMITROV

Rafa winning at least one slam in 10 consecutive years is the best achievement in Open Era tennis since Laver won all 4 Grand slam tournaments in the same year!

Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion!

Beating three top 8 players to win a 250. Wow. Just, wow. Incredible from Dimitrov.

After that first set, I thought this would be an easy straight set win. Still did it, Dimi!

-French Open: Federer vs Murray
-Wimbledon: Djokovic vs Wawrinka
-US Open: Federer vs Nadal

When he hugged Valverdu ... that was emotional as hell. You can tell they've developed a really strong bond. Thank you Dani!!!! Awesome Grisho!!!!!!

Re: Brisbane F: [7] Grigor Dimitrov def. [3]Kei Nishikori 6-2 2-6 6-3

Well, it was inevitable that one of them was going to suffer a big blow in confidence by losing a 5th straight final and missing a golden opportunity, which ended up being Nishikori.

Great run by Dimitrov though, maybe his most convincing title yet, beating 3 top 10 players on the way. He was peaking at the end of set 1 and remained extremely solid in set 3, deserving champion

I guess you can say that the two of them took turns imploding from 2-2 and 3-3, but it was still a decent match as can be seen from the stats. Some great rallies and good shotmaking by both in patches, wish it could have come at the same time to make a TB though.

grigor was at his absolute best .Absolute focus dedication, great serving, shotmaking ,he had it all.Kei was absolute crap at the end missing ball after ball after ball.It s gonna be great if dimi manages to keep this level for a longer periods,I am really curios about that. All in all dimitrov is back ,and it s great for tennis.

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.
