Great confidence booster going into the Australian Open. Knows that he can waste multiple CPs, donate a set, and still win the tournament. Against the No. 1 player, no less.

This will be a special year. We will see some drama and high quality matches from the (former) Top4.

After the second set I was furious and switched the TV off predicting Verdasco 2.0. I was a bit surprised after seeing the result. Congratulations to Novak! Well done! Surprisingly the first two sets of the match were one of the best in this rivalry. Djokovic was showing high level of aggression and many precise shots (definitely not a "pusher"!) while Murray showed great defensive skills (probably the best in the tour). This match showed that Djokovic is far from being done and he's going to Australia as co-favorite. Murray's streak ended but congratulations to him as well for great fightback. Looking forward to the AO - can't see any other winner than Djokorray there.

As a Murray fan I'm obviously a little disappointed. However, only a little. That was an awesome match, definitely the most exciting they've had for some time! Some of those rallies were so good.

So congrats to Djokovic fans! Your man deserved the win, and I should think this will give Novak a timely mental boost going into the AO though I am still hoping Murray is victorious there

Good match to start 2017. Congrats to Djokovic and his good fans.

At least Murray doesn't have the added pressure of defending a winning streak at AO, might not be a terrible defeat for him.

He'll be ready, make no mistake about that.

So it's safe to say: if Murray loses 1st set then he's losing a part of his mental mojo, so he's bound to lose the final set.
Makes somehow sense to me now.

Very important win for Novak mentally. He needed to prove himself that he can beat Andy and that he can play a really good match again.

Andy played ridic good but way to defensive at the end he was worn out and couldn't keep the level up anymore.

Going for sweet 13 now! Lets go Nolefam!

Re: Doha Final: [2]Novak Djokovic def. [1]Andy Murray 6-3 5-7 6-4

Entertaining watch.

I thought Djokovic deserved the victory due to being the aggressor and forcing the issue. His down the line shots were so punishing and I think it eventually paid dividends as the third set progressed and Murray began to feel the effects.

From Murray's perspective, I was disappointed in his performance - although not his fight or desire. He was just too passive at key junctures and he never really looked to step on the accelerator until he was in a precarious position in the second set.

If it is a Murray-Djokovic final in Australia, then Andy has to adopt a different strategy because he ain't taking three sets off Novak playing the way he did tonight.

In saying all that, a big difference was Djokovic served superbly and Murray's delivery was rotten in the decider.
